4 years after she first runs for senate, Hillary Clinton throws her hat in the ring for the DNC nomination and takes it without much work. She picks NC senator John Edwards as her running mate.

An easy win for Bush/Cheney.  Bush attracts a good majority of the independent vote.  In spite of the fact Edwards is on the Democratic ticket, the Democrats make no headway in the south.  Bush attracts some Democratic support, and makes inroads into traditionally Democratic states.

Bush/Cheney            365  53%
H. Clinton/Edwards   173  47%

Bush would win by a large margin.  Hillary would scare away many independents.
