In Canada there was 1 death in British Columbia. Number of cases by province:

British Columbia 46
Ontario 42
Alberta 19
Quebec 9
New-Brunswick 1

New Brunswick has its first case from someone who had travelled to France. Manitoba has a probable case from someone cominmg back from the Philipines. So new provinces are starting to declare cases. A child in a daycare in Calgary tested positive, it seems to be the first child case in the country.

The World figure skating championship planned for Monday in Montreal were cancelled yesterday but the international cross country competition in Quebec City will take place. The norwegians will not be there and 4 out of 5 of the Italian team.

Bolsanaro is positive. Considering he and his adviser just tested positive and were at a GOP Mar-a-Lago event, there is a good chance the white house is now infected.

Our PM has just held a press conference to confirm the UK is moving to the "delay" phase.

Not so many concrete measures announced, but the spring party conferences have been shelved (which means the new Labour leader will be announced next month "behind closed doors")

Police and health workers are now indeed checking EVERY single car and truck coming in from Italy ... resulting in a 100 km (60 mile) traffic jam today at the Brenner crossing down to Bozen !

Truck drivers have to wait 2 days in line on the highway to pass into Austria.

LOL.

Breaking: France closes all schools, kindergarden and universities

Germany is not taking these steps yet on a national basis, but individual municipalities such as Halle have done so.

Status in Denmark
Yesterday, the PM announced complete closure of all educational institutions and childcare, public libraries, sports facilities ect, all non essential public employees are sent home, public transport is restricted, no indoor events with more that a hundred participants and the closure of all bars, pubs and nighth clubs.
All non essential operations and treatments are cancelled and everybody with a health education is being mobillised
Currently there is about 600 infected, no deads

Parliament is debatting strict new legislation tonight that will give the Minister of Health huge powers (with a sunset clause)

The country is basically shuting down after we have seen an exponential rise in the number of infected in the last few days.

About 130 infected has been on vacantion at the same wintersport resort in Austria...

So... North Korea still does not have any official cased despite bordering two of the worst-affected countries. Is there any pulse on what is happening there with COVID-19?

The Canadian Prime Minister's wife tested positive. She came back from a conference in London.

Ontario is closing piblic schools for two weeks after next week's March break.

BC and Quebec seem to have announced same policies: no gatherings of more than 250 people and 14 day self isolation asked to those coming back from trips outside the country.

There were rumors a while back that they were shooting people who were suspected to be infected.

More recently there were some rumors that some significant part of the NK Army that was stationed near the Chinese border had flu-like symptoms and were being quarantined or something.

As is always the case with NK though, it is pretty much all rumors.

Great Moments in the History of Perth Crime

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-03-13/woman-charged-stealing-facemasks-and-antiseptic-from-hospital/12053840

At my girlfriends shopping centre, all of the toilet paper was stolen from the public toilets, disabled as well. And to get the toilet paper out, they had to roll it out slowly and then restore it to steal it.

I have never heard of someone stealing toilet paper from a public toilet in a shopping centre. None in the actual shop, and the shop said that the toilet paper from their storage was also stolen. So the entire building has no toilet paper.

https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australia/man-selling-toilet-paper-online-for-thousands-amid-coronavirus-panic/ar-BB10Pllo

Chinese guy trying to sell a 10 pack online for $2,000. He met Channel 9 news in Perth and then they accosted him live on the 6pm news.

Not specifically a criminal act, but the punishment matched the crime.

The first German states have started to close their schools: Bavaria, Saarland, Berlin, Lower Saxony. More if not all will probably follow soon.

The Bundesliga has now decided to suspend all the soccer matches for two and a half weeks after they had at first continued the season without spectators. However, several players from Hannover 96 had been tested positive on coronavirus now.

Confirmed infections: 3,000.
NRW: 1,264, Bavaria: 500, Baden-Württemberg: 454, Berlin: 158, Lower Saxony: 129.
Six people have died.

Feeling like (more than) a bit of a hypocrite because I spent all day on Twitter yesterday castigating the government for not taking obvious steps to stem transmission i.e. taking children out of school, banning sporting events and advising against mass gatherings, and now I'm planning on going out to the club tonight. Bought this ticket weeks ago and now it feels like the last opportunity to enjoy normal life before everything kicks off properly over the course of next week..."the lamps are going out all over Europe".

And in major international news of vast importance, Liechtenstein has closed its schools.

Both students will now have to stay at home.

In Portugal, the number of infected increased to 78, while there is already 1 patient recovered.

The government has, however, decided to take many measures to prevent the spread of the virus:

- Closure of all schools, private and public, kindergartens and universities;
- Closure of all nightclubs;
- Restaurants can only have 1/3 of their full capacity;
- Suspension of all visits to nursing homes in all of the country;
- Suspension of the disembark of cruise ships in Portugal;
- Supermarkets and shopping malls will have a limit of people getting in;

Update: There are now 112 confirmed cases in Portugal, 34 more than yesterday. There was a big jump of cases in the Lisbon area.

Our government still insisting that this May's elections are going ahead. Given today's news about sporting events amongst other things, this approach is looking increasingly Canute-like.

Kurz just announced that some regions in Austria (especially Tyrol) will be put under a 2-week quarantine.

There were a lot of people doing their Friday shopping today, more than usually.

I still only bought stuff for a couple days (normal).
