I say, legalise all drugs, produce them locally, tax them and put health warnings on the packaging.

This way you would generate income from all the druggies. Thus you could cut income tax with the money saved.
Drug dealers would go out of business.
Crime would decrease.

Prohibition clearly doesn't work. If people want to ruin their lives on drugs, let them, but make money out of it in the process.

Marijuana is the only drug in the US I feel should be legalized. They should have never made the other drugs illegal in the first place. It's to late to change it now.

Legalize Marijuana, but don't decriminalize hard drugs

Huh???

Cocaine was not illegal before the late 50's. I see the drug situation the same as alcohol. When it was illegal it was bought and sold and cost many their lives. Once it was decriminalized again the crime involved with it dropped off. Marijuana should be decriminalized for the fact that it is not as destructive as hard drugs. I believe it should be sold like alcohol. Taxed and stamped and only sold in alcohol stores or bars. It's to late to go back and change the laws on the hard stuff though. That would be a disaster.

I guarantee that we consume more alcohol per capita today than we did under prohibition.  Prohibition may not have eliminated alcohol consumption, but it reduced it significantly.

Agree. The current attitude towards drugs in the west is just ridiculous. Whether they're illegal or not, people will still take them, so why not legalise them and earn some tax revenue from it? It would also take criminals out of the loop.
Sure the problems with drug addiction would still be there, but that's going to exist anyway.

I think here in the U.S. it is to late. If we legalized it now addiction and abuse would skyrocket. It would be like lowering the drinking age to 15 like some European countries do.
