The 2020 Presidential Election went down in history as one of the most world shattering campaigns in political history as the 45th President, Donald J. Trump, defeated Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren in a landslide.

The 2020 campaign began in earnest on February 3rd, the Night of the Iowa Caucuses, where the former Vice President pulled off a surprise victory, scraping a win against Senators Warren and Sanders and seeing his former Opponent Pete Buttigieg fall to fourth and Senator Amy Klobuchar fall to fifth. This surprise victory gave encouragement to the Biden Campaign, which had been steadily declining over the prior few months thanks to various gaffes and scandals relating to Biden's campaign. Following the endorsements of Pete and Amy for Biden, New Hampshire would choose to back Senator Sanders as well as Nevada while South Carolina backed Biden.

By the end of the Primaries, Biden had picked up the most states (IA, SC, the Deep South, TX, AZ, VA, WV, MI, MT, PA, DE) while Sanders, Warren, and Bloomberg picked up several remaining states, with Warren battling Sanders in the plains, North East, and West Coast and Bloomberg facing Biden in the Midwest and Upper South. When it came to the 2020 Democratic Convention in Milawaukee, the convention became a brokered one as even with the support of the super delegates on the second ballot, not a single candidate came out on top. For the next several days, there would be various meetings by the candidates and party leaders. On July 20th, after a week of infighting and debating, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren was chosen as the 'compromise' candidate between the progressive left of Bernie Sanders' candidacy and the centrist neoliberal campaigns of Biden and Bloomberg, with the Senator choosing New Jersey Senator Cory Booker as her running mate.

Almost immediately, her campaign was hit with various attacks, plauged with many people in a bernie or bust crowd that she had cheated Bernie Sanders out of the nomination a second time in a row. And, at the same time, shortly after the Republican National Convention, several email leaks made by staffers revealed that Biden and Bloomberg's candidacies were to ensure that Sanders' didn't get the nomination, believing that Warren was their best bet for victory. The leaks were believed to have originated by DNC staffers stunned at what their party had done once again. The Massachusetts Senator would never live down these attacks and by Mid September, the Media was forced to cover the very negative stories for her.

As for the Republicans, despite a soft challenge that didn't get much traction from Bill Weld, Incumbent President Donald Trump of Florida would win re-nomination by the Republican Party. Following an additional meeting with North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell bringing down the articles of impeachment against the President and putting them to a vote after dragging them for several months, and various other factors, it looked like the Republican Party was on the path to victory.

From August to November, Trump had built and continued to hold a steady lead in the polls against Senator Warren, leading her by between 5-7 % nationally in the polling. In the debates, the Democratic Nominees stuttered and were unable to dodge Trump's aggressive attacks, though Booker did hold his own against Vice President Pence in their respective Debate. In late October, a leak was made by a Warren campaign staffer that she had convinced several other politicians, including candidates for the Senate in specific states, to stay out so she could become the Nominee. The October surprise was debilitating for a Warren Campaign that had just days prior been closing the gap. On Election Night 2020, President Trump lead Senator Warren in the Polling 50-42.

2020 Presidential Election

President Donald J. Trump (R-FL)/Vice President Mike Pence (R-IN) : 362/49.3 %
Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA)/Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) : 176/43.7 %

2020 Senate Elections

Republicans : 55 Seats (+2)
Democrats : 45 Seats (-2)

Fresh Senators : Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Mark Kelly (D-AZ), Kris Kobach (R-KS), Joe Kennedy III (D-MA), John James (R-MI), Michelle Bachmann (R-MN), Ben Ray Lujan (D-NM), Manny Sethi (R-TN), Cynthia Lummis (R-WY)

2020 Governor Elections

Republicans : 27 Seats (+1)
Democrats : 23 Seats (-1)

New Governors : Greg Gianforte (R-MT), Woody Thrasher (R-WV)

2020 House Elections

Republicans : 245 (+46)
Democrats : 190 (-45)

New Incumbents in Safe Districts : Chris Pringle (R-AL-01), Barry Moore (R-AL-02), Tim Donnelly (R-CA-08), Georgette Gomez (D-CA-53), Gavin Rollins (R-FL-03), Byron Donalds (R-FL-19), Lisa Noël Babbage (R-GA-07), Houston Gaines (R-GA-09), Colton Moore (R-GA-14), Kai Kahele (D-HI-02), Mary Miller (R-IL-15), Frank Mrvan (D-IN-01), Kelly Mitchell (R-IN-05), Tracey Mann (R-KS-01), Alan Khazei (D-MA-04), Shane Hernandez (R-MI-10), Corey Stapleton (R-MT-AL), Laura Montoya (D-NM-03), Michael Blake (D-NY-15), David Carlucci (D-NY-17), Wayne King (R-NC-11), Knute Buehler (R-OR-02), Nichole Williams (R-TN-01), Brandon Batch (R-TX-11), Monique Worthy (R-TX-13), Kristen Alamo Rowin (R-TX-17), Cory Green (R-UT-01), Kristine Reeves (D-WA-10), Scott Fitzgerald (R-WI-05)

The end result was a landslide for the Republican Party as they retook the House and kept the NGA, White House, and Senate under their control while the Democratic Party scrambled to recover lost ground. Donald Trump was interested in the future of the Republican Party and so he pushed for veterans, women, or minorities to run for congress as a Republican, though there were some on the fringe left that declared these people to be traitors, though these voices were always disavowed.

Following the victory in 2020, President Trump began to work for a better United States, negotiating a better trade deal with China, speaking with the leader of India to establish good trade relations, and having a peaceful meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on negotiating a Trade Deal with them following Brexit. 2021 was known as a relatively calm year for the Trump Administration, surprisingly enough, with the President instead relaxing back and continuing to serve out the rest of his term while the Left got over the shock of losing to Donald Trump one again, this time in a massive landslide.

In late 2021, President Trump would campaign for the Republican Nominees for Governor in New Jersey (Bob Hugin) and Virginia (Barbara Comstock), though both would lose to their opponents (Murphy in New Jersey, Lee Carter in Virginia). However, it was by mid October that a crisis began to brew, starting in the Middle East. Specifically, from within the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Following the 2019-2020 Stand-off between the two countries, Iran had been facing severe backlash from its student population due to it shooting down a Ukrainian flight in the face-off. These protests continued to worsen over time and by 13 October 2021, the first shots of the Iranian Civil War was fired in the city of Yazd. On that day, a group of 27 students fired upon Iranian Police attempting to fire upon the protesters themselves. While it is unknown how these students got the weapons and what became of them following the shoot-out that lasted 3 days, they became icons for the groups of people that rose up against the Ayatollah. Almost overnight, two new forces had emerged and spread across the country, the Iranian Democracy Front and the Iranian People's Republican Army, one being a group advocating for Democracy and the other advocating for Communism.

Initially, President Trump encouraged these rebellious groups, hopeful to see his biggest rival in the middle east be taken out. By Mid March of 2022, however, the situation spiraled out of the control as the various ethnic groups outside of Iran's core rose up and the IDF and IPRA splintered into various factions, much like the crisis of the Syrian Civil War. Due to how horribly the situation had changed for the world, intervention was taken off the list of potential things to do. Instead, soft support for the Iranian Movement for Democracy, a splinter group of the IDF that had less authoritative ideas than the leaders of the organization, was given and drone strikes was used to try and contain the war.

As this crisis emerged and consumed the daily lives of civilians, in Early July, the DOW Jones fell by 231.43 percent, beginning what many analysts would call the long recession. It was due to this reason, and various other factors, that the 2022 midterm elections didn't favor the Republicans, even with the Democratic Senate and House leaders retiring that year.

2022 Senate Elections

Republicans : 50 Seats (-5)
Democrats : 50 Seats (+5)

Fresh Senators : Les Phillip (R-AL), Laura Ingraham (R-AK), Leon Jones (R-AR), Susan Lontine (D-CO), Will Haskell (D-CT), Nolan Carroll (R-FL), Steve Henson (D-GA), Heather Scott (R-ID), Pat Grassley (R-IA), Jake LaTurner (R-KS), Thomas Massie (R-KY), Lyda Krewson (D-MO), Jumaane Williams (D-NY), Anthony Foxx (D-NC), Ellen Rosenblum (D-OR), Jim Kenney (D-PA), David Zuckerman (D-VT), Mona Das (D-WA), Tom Barrett (D-WI)

2022 Gubernatorial Elections

Democrats : 26 Seats (+3)

Connors (D-HI), Roger Marshall (R-KS), Brandon Scott (D-MD), Don Bacon (R-NE), Chris Pappas (D-NH), Tim Ryan (D-OH), Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR), Conor Lamb (D-PA), Jamie Bova (D-RI), and William Timmons (R-SC)

2022 House Elections

Democrats : 238 (+48)
Republicans : 197 (-48)

Despite losing both the House and the NGA in the midterms, the Republicans still held the slimmest of Majorities in the Senate with Vice President pence there for any tie breaking votes that could occur that year, and this allowed President Trump to consider the night a win in some aspects.

Two weeks later, on November 22nd, the first major Candidate for the 2024 Presidential Election, Democratic North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, announced his bid. Three days later, Republican Vermont Governor Phil Scott announced his intentions to run for the Presidency. Thus, the 2024 Presidential Election had begun and with Justices Ginsburg and Breyer very close to their deaths, a deadlocked Senate, A Democratic Majority NGA and House, and Associate Justices Alito and Thomas, and Chief Justice Roberts, considering retirement, and the Iranian Civil War abroad, many are wondering what will come in a post-Trump America.

Welcome one and all to a mini-TL of mine that will cover the 2024 Presidential Election in little snippets, from the aftermath of the 2022 Midterms to Inauguration Day 2025. Now, Scott and Cooper aren't the only two candidates and you can expect several more people to announce in the following posts. Since this TL will be sorta short, don't expect much from it. Once it's finished, anyone can make a sequel to it. Hope you enjoy this TL as I write and America After Trump.

June 25th, 2023 : The First Republican Debate takes place in the University of South Carolina in Columbus, South Carolina and will be hosted by Fox News. The Issues that will be covered will be the current recession the country is in, the situations in Iran and Virginia, what the Republican Party will do after Trump's administration is over, and an introduction as to who's who.

And here is the update that bridges the gap between April 15th and the first Republican debate. I hope you all enjoy it. Hopefully, I can get some help in writing up the first Democratic and Republican debates as I can barely write debates on my own, so you'll have to wait for that update. In the meantime, please give thoughts. Smiley

Alright, so the first Republican and Democratic Debates are taking a tad bit longer to write than I expected, but they'll be done soon. In the meantime, feel free to vote in this poll for a very alternate timeline involving a foreign political/Military figure becoming president by the time of the US Civil War. I'll state the results in a different thread once this is finished and the Timeline itself has been finished. Thank you for your patience. https://forms.gle/F6LRinY7qbfnoqYbA

Rooting for Scott or Baker from the GOP and Harris or Newsom from the Democrats. Also Steve Daines as a justice is interesting, Rand also is, but that's more that Rand's brand of Republicanism is different than Trump's. Steve Daines looked to have started in business, if any Senator was to be appointed, my guess would have been Mike Lee.
