I don't understand why all the forum dems are upset about Boebert retaining a safe district...  You do realize that having people like Boebert, MTG, and Gaetz be the face of the Republican Party is a GOOD thing for Dems right?  They are crazy and awful but they repel voters in swing districts from the GOP.  And why does it matter if some less crazy Republican replaced her?  they'd vote the exact same way once they get into office.
Boebert is not as good for the party as a 6th D seat would be.

Tbf, making CO-3 D leaning would be hard without screwing up a lot of things; you’d need to stretch the 3rd district into Boulder. It would be a pretty clear D mander, and CO used a commission so that would never happen.

I'm super late to the preliminary map party, but one point I have not seen made yet is that the 3rd district boundaries are very good for all of the declared Democrats who don't actually live in the current 3rd district, but do live in ski country, and now can't be portrayed (as much) as carpetbaggers any more.

Yep - specifically a huge boon to Kerry Donovan

On the flip side, bad for Valdez and the other candidates from the Hispanic areas who do live in the current district but will likely be drawn into the Safe GOP 4th

I created a 4-4 CO map based on the 2020 Prez results. This would most likely be one of the better maps for the GOP.

Detailed partisanship calculations for state senate districts. Biden was 1 seat away from a supermajority!

This looks like the type of map that would excite the job until middle of the decade when the suburban areas around Denver swell and the 4-4 map becomes a 6-2 map or 7-1 in a good Dem year.

El Paso County appears to be 10Kish over the 8 CD threshold in the new numbers, so goodbye any hope of a neat whole-county district.

Looks like the El Paso CD is going to shrink even more, through shedding its easternmost portions.

Colorado’s Independent Legislative Redistricting Commission has voted 10-2 to end prison gerrymandering for new STATE legislative maps. Inmates will now be counted at their last known address instead of where they're incarcerated at.

The separate congressional panel voted Thursday to keep the status quo.

They can draw the El Paso CD with zero population deviation and no split precincts -

I made a 5-2-1 map with the new data. Unfortunately the El Paso County district looks so ugly now.  Sad

I don't know.  People like her and MTG and the general anti-masker, anti-vaccine, pro-insanity crowd are really toxic nationally.  And it's not like Trump is going to be around forever.  If the GOP expelled crazies like her/MTG/Gaetz from its ranks they could eventually regain credibility as a normal national party again.

A dem state rep announced a run for the CO-8 district in western Adams.

https://www.denverpost.com/2021/08/24/yadira-caraveo-8th-district-congress-colorado/

Maybe this makes it more likely Perlmutter runs in CO-7?   That'd be best case scenario for CO Dems probably.

I tried my best to replicate CLARRO's map of making a district 40% Hispanic, my north Denver district is 31.4% voting pop is Hispanic. Biden won my CO-3 map by 52 votes! Map is 5 Biden seats - 2 Trump seats and 1 toss-up seat. I did factor the incumbents locations for each of present districts.

A normal R probably easily wins 2022 in that type of district but Boebert is so far out there it might be enough to screw her.

I made this hypothetical 5-3 Colorado map that makes mild adjustments to the current proposed congressional map to make the districts more proportional (not at the minute level, but all are within 1000 people of the target population because I was trying not to split precincts) The partisan lean numbers are based on the 2020 Presidential Election-
