All sorts of exotic reptiles have been "brought" to Florida over time.  They multiply rapidly in the wild, and many of them have no natural predators here.  We now have Burmese Pythons and Anacondas in the Everglades.

Pythons and anacondas do not belong in Florida. Florida has enough large predators above us in the food chain (alligators, the Florida crocodile, pumas, bears, and feral dogs) already.

Just because an animal can do well in an environment does not mean that it belongs there. The domestic cat has ravaged ecosystems all over the world. Dogs seem to have thrived in Antarctica for a while by killing penguins before they were removed and banned.   

I have little question that a breeding population of lions, tigers, or leopards would fare well in much of the continental United States.

I initially read that "smuggling" as "smoking" and I didn't even bat an eye. That just seems like a regular everyday activity that Florida Man would partake in.
