[/The leader of the Georgian breakaway region of Abkhazia tendered his resignation late on Sunday following days of protests, the president’s office said.

Crowds of protesters broke into the president’s headquarters on Thursday and demanded the exit of local president Raul Khajimba, who led the region from 2014 and won a second term in September. quote]

Third time since 2004. South Ossetia, Transnistria and Abkhazia are all kinda democratic, it's shame we couldn't have  the same in Russia.

They don't have so strong KGB-clan as we have. And as meek and submissive majority of people.

Theoretically, the same KGB-clan oversees them as well. IMO, Moscow a) doesn't want to irritate local populations - or it will lose those territories b) Abkhazia, for example, is very small, there are deep family ties across population, population is small and concentraited - so it's very easy to overthrow president (not talking about thousands of gun owners between ordinary people)
