Were there Reagan primary voters who refused to vote for Ford?

In states like Texas there definitely must have been some as I am sure if Reagan was the nominee he would have won Texas, on the other hand, he would have definitely lost Michigan to Carter.

Yes, the fight between Ford and Reagan gave Carter 62% support in the GE in the summer due to reagan supporters either saying they would stay home or vote for Carter because Reagan lost.

As summer ended Ford slowly regained them and helped by him appearing "Presidential" from the Centennial to a State dinner with Queen Elizabeth.

I'm not sure, but I think Ford would have won if he picked Reagan for VP.

Try to imagine this scenario. On the election night Ford is projected to get exactly 270 electoral votes, but Washington faithless elector still casts a vote for Reagan instead, throwing the election to the House, resulting in Carter's victory. If he still votes for Dole as he did IRL, we'd have a Carter/Dole administration.
