The decade of the Silent Generation has brought us these babies:

Neil Armstrong
James Dean
Elizabeth Taylor
James Brown
Hank Aaron
Elvis Presley
Buddy Holly
Jack Nicholson
Natalie Wood
Tina Turner

Some say the phrase Silent Generation is non-indicative, and with these people I'm almost inclined to believe that.

I voted Hank Aaron.  "The Hammer".

I also would have voted Neil Armstrong, Buddy Holly, and Elvis Presley, but the poll only let me choose one, and Aaron is still alive to enjoy the honor of "Biggest FF Of A Decade" or whatever we'd pick.

I didn't see Willie Mays (b 1931) on the list.  Or Roberto Clemente (b 1935).  Mays, Aaron, and Clemente were the most admirable group of baseball superstars ever to play in the same era.  It's not a coincidence that MLB was great in the fifities, sixties, and early seventies, but in decline somewhat today.

Everyone knows that baseball peaked in 1980 when I was 12 and the Phillies won the World Series.

I voted for James Brown as he was the hardest working one of that group.

I'm a little surprised Tiny Tim didn't make the list. He was one of the most famous people of his day.
