Didn't found a thread about this. Croatians are going to the polls to elect, or reelect, a new President. The race is very, very close, according to polling, between the current President, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, former SDP Prime Minister, Zoran Milanović, and anti-system candidate, Miroslav Škoro:

The 1st round will be held today, 22 December, and a second round on 5 January 2020. The second round polls are also very close between the 3 main candidates.

I would imagine that Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović would be quite popular. Anyone has any insight in Croatian politics? I believe that Škoro may be damaging her prospect, while Milanović is holding up the SDP core voting bloc.

I wonder why are Živi zid not standing? Their leader got 16% last time round, and the party seems to be doing pretty good in the polls.

Živi Zid don't poll very good nowadays. Their former leader Ivan Pernar left the party and now is standing in the presidential election with his own party, while what's left of the party supports the independent candidate Mislav Kolakušić.

Milanovic is only normal candidate of "Big 3". He will win in second round.

Surprising given that Škoro is a right-winger, if a somewhat maverick one. Polls normally don't include the HDZ-leaning diaspora vote, so it's going to be a nailbiter.

actually škoro called his voters to just add number 3. with his name. he does not support any of these candidates and that is logical for him because he plans to stay in politics and go to the parliamentary elections in the end of this year. many of people who supported him are not right wingers, just anti-establishment.

by the way debate was last night and milanovic crushed kitarovic.
