I doubt it, living in Macomb County. Most people I knew voted Nixon, and those who voted McGovern went with Carter or a left-liberal 3rd party in '76, not Ford.

Such a voter would be at least 65 y/o today.

I was once in the same room with McGovern himself, who was one.

Quite true. Growing up my social circle pretty much consisted of a mile or so circle around our north Sterling Heights neighborhood.

Title is misleading, Ford is the only Republican Presidential candidate she ever votes for.

And many that I have know personally have lived this:

I know more than one man who's lived this.  Men who, back in the day, were hippies who didn't go to college and didn't run to Canada.  Some of these men voted for McGovern back in the day.

"Southie" (Boston's Wards 6 and 7) was full of McGovern-Ford voters. I'm sure I rode the "T" with several in the 1980s.

This was due to the School Busing Crisis in Boston reaching its highest point of contention in the winter of 1975-76.  It's one reason Carter didn't improve in MA on McGovern's showing, and why Reagan carried Massachusetts twice.
