A strong vote for 2000. Fair or not, she was unpopular as first lady with the failed health care initiative, and she was also a carpetbagger (though that is less of a big deal in NY). But she learned her lesson and had so called listening tours around the state to win people over.
2008 was horrible. She wanted a coronation in an election where some party leaders stayed neutral while secretly preferring Obama because they thought she would lose in the general. Her husband's attempt to win over Kennedy was clumsy and just wrong, and Kennedy's resulting endorsement of Obama made it OK to not endorse her.
In 2016, she learned the wrong lesson from 2008 and decided the way to win was to not have any competition. This led to a close win over a then-fringe candidate and a loss to the likes of Trump. The general election campaign had no theme other than "I'm a woman" and "Trump is a buffoon". She also seems to have learned the wrong lesson from 2016 as every action since then is excuses for her loss attributed to others instead of herself.
