Utah was the only state in 04 to vote left of the presidential results with the gay marriage ban.  So who are these voters.
Bush got 71% but the ban only got 66%.

Well to be frank it was likely Bush-Matheson voters in the second congressional district and moderate Republicans in Salt Lake County (it was quite a close vote there) who were non-Mormon.

Probably the amendment would pass 51 to 49. Very close call. But it couldn't pass without Utah County being a part of the state Smiley.

Didn't/doesn't Dick Cheney privately support same sex marriage due to his daughter Liz? He wasn't a resident of Utah, but if he was, he might have quitely voted against a ban, but for Dubya and himself obviously.
