Unless Scotland has different rules over this to anywhere else, polls have closed.

Andrew; is there Telly/Radio coverage of this in Scotland?

Nothing on TV here. BBC 1 is running Question Time, BBC Newsnight, STV isn't showing it either.

Newsnight Scotland may show coverage but it's only on from 11-11.20. It's rather unusual that is it getting no TV coverage with the usual band of MP's and commentators.

EDIT: Radio Scotland is giving us a nice meddley of Scottish folk songs. One called the 'Bonnie labouring boy' Do I detect a whiff of political bias from the MacBeeb? Wink Cheesy

Turnout low 40's according to BBC political correspondent Brian Taylor

'Indications are this could be tight'

They always say that Smiley

Update: 'Labour worried', 'SNP wish they were anywhere rather than here'

Hmm... which parts of the seat have been counted?

They are still expecting alot of traditional Labour areas. Dunfermline itself does not appear to have been counted yet.

Told you that it would be close Wink but dont worry Labour'll pull through... remember they reported Chedale as very close at the count only for the Tories to lose by 4,000 votes!

Murmurs on politicalbetting of tightening odds with money being placed on the Lib Dems.

It's THAT slow I'm having to resort to PB to keep me updated Smiley

Oh I always had a sneaking feeling that this would be close... but I'd been thinking it'd be over the SNP rather than the LibDems (although given my views on the SNP this probably reflects a certain deep-seated pessimism on my part... still I guess this by-election shows how useful a local base can be). You'll note that I didn't enter in a prediction of my own...

That's true... most of these informal guestimates are based on facial expressions or candidate leaking so it's never very accurate...

SKY NEWS

Indications are the Lib Dems may have pulled off a 'political sensation'

Labour relying on village votes.

Professor John Curtice (nice guy!) 'calls it' for the Lib Dems

Indeed... Gordon isn’t going to be pleased at all, then again Labour’s campaigning ability is vastly overrated especially in by-election campaigns against the LibDems.

STV/Grampian now covering the lead up to the count.

SNP's Nicola Sturgeon says SNP vote up (shes a by-election favourite, she never gets these things right Wink )

It's just heating up! Decleration in about 10 minutes - Labour may have got a small but significant boost from final ballots.
