Would any other Republican have gotten over 306 in 2016?

Kasich would have gotten 350-355 EV and depending on how well the green party does he could have gotten 362(if they still dont do well he gets 350-355).

Kasich/Martinez 350-355 52.5%
Hillary/Kaine 183-188 45%

Kasich gets around 47% in OR so he loses in most instances  but if Stein surges and gets more than 5% that could drop Hillary below 47% in that state.

Rubio:

Rubio/Walker 332 50.3%
Hillary/Kaine 206 47.2%

Contrary to popular belief, Trump was still a horrible candidate in 2016 despite his bare win. Of the major 2016 Republican contenders, only Ben Carson probably would have done worse, and maybe Cruz.

This question has been asked 1,000 times already, so not sure why you’re expecting something other than the same contrarian, predictable, and biased answers by asking it for the 1,001st time, especially on a forum like this.

In the popular vote, I would think most would've. In the electoral vote (which is what matters), I'm not so sure.

Kasich would decimate Clinton.

I've answered this before and I still say no. For all the "Hillary was unelectable!" outtakes, she still nearly won. Drumpf was actually the strongest candidate because only he had appeal in industrial and postindustrial areas. The Romney clones like Kasich, Walker, and Rubio were sure losers because all were free traders who wanted privatization Social Security, and would probably run chasing nonexistent 1980s caricatures of "swing voters" rather than energize conservatives with immigration and cutting into the blue-collar Democratic base with shifts on certain issues like Drumpf did.

Of course, once they lost to Hillary, 2018 would have been a sweep like 1994. So in that sense I suppose they would have done better.

The 2016 GOP field was extremely weak. Rubio collapsed when pressure was placed on him from Christie, Ted was way too punchable, Kasich and several others were just boring, and Trump was, well, Trump. And I'm saying this as a Trump supporter! The only person who might've actually done better than Trump was Rand Paul but he was never going to get much traction since the Libertarian wing of the GOP has had a hard time taking over thus far. It was only by chance that Trump won. Against anyone else, Hillary would've decimated them. Especially poor Jeb!

I have little doubt that Rubio and Kasich would do better in the national popular vote, but I'm not sure if their voters would have been as well concentrated (i.e. in MI/PA/WI) as Trump's were.

If Kasich had somehow won the nomination, then him. But honestly Trump was better positioned than all the rest to beat Hillary and he did

No. Trump appealed to voters that Rubio, Kasich would not have gotten. I think Clinton likely beats them but it would have been very close.

Kasich or Rubio probably wouldn’t have outperformed him electorally but certainly would have outperformed him in the popular vote.
