Two musicians heavily associated with New Jersey, Bruce Springsteen is obvious, Thomas Schlatter is arguably the guy most responsible for the New Brunswick Sound and easily one of the top 10 most influential emo/hardcore musicians of the century.

Bruce has his strengths, but I'm definitely going to have to vote for Schlatter.

I'm from New Jersey (obviously) and I have no idea who Thomas Schlatter is.

So Springsteen wins by default.

A more representative New Jersey poll would have included Bon Jovi instead. In that case, even though I have nothing against Bon Jovi, Springsteen would still win.

By the way, unlike most New Jersey residents, I'm not actually that big of a Spingsteen fan. I like him just fine, and he wins in those comparisons above, but he's far from my favorite musician. I don't know if that's controversial or not.

Thomas Schlatter doesn't even have a Wikipedia article.
