Democrats have failed to find a candidate for the Senate seat or for one House seat. Not looking good, Dems!

Cotton would win easily regardless, but he's one of the worst Senators, so it's a shame he doesn't at least have token opposition.

I can imagine this would depress Democrat turnout statewide just a little bit.

In AR-02 maybe, since Sabato thinks it's something other than Safe R.

What's his campaign slogan? Pick Cotton 2020?

Sen. Cotton is not "unopposed" just because he does not have a Democrat opponent. He's got an Independent and a Libertarian running against him. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020_United_States_Senate_election_in_Arkansas#Libertarian_primary

Dan Whitfield will probably campaign to get most of the votes of rank-and-file Democrat voters, and will probably succeed at getting them. Not that the outcome will be changed.

2002: Incumbent Republican Senator loses in a good year for Republicans
2008: Incumbent Democratic Senator running unopposed
2014: Incumbent Democratic Senator loses in a landslide
2020: Incumbent Republican Senator running unopposed

Quite the political evolution here.

Anyway, Cotton is truly one of the last Republican Senators who deserves to run unopposed, so here’s hoping against hope someone at least mounts a serious primary challenge.

I made this point previously. Whitfield may become the de facto Democratic nominee, and receive the ~35-40% of the vote that would have gone to Mahony, had he not dropped out.

Certainly so. There's no doubt in my mind that Cotton is a racist, particularly given his notorious opposition to last year's First Step Act.

Wait, why do you want him to run unopposed?
