Was very surprised to see it, considering it swung D pretty hard.

Wendy Davis is from Forth Worth so she probably got a few point bump so if you remove then it probably trends very slightly D(Being a perfect bellwether for the state to voting a couple points left of the state)

You have to take all this into account which is why I also think Republican strength in TX in 2000 and 2004 was overrated as the reason they won Texas by over 20 points both times is their nominee was a popular Texas Governor who embodied Texan style politics as well. If Christine Todd Whitman was the nominee in 2000 , she probably wins Texas by around 13-15 points

Yup Wendy Davis was a state senator from Forth Worth in a Romney +10 district. It flipped in 2014 to the GOP but its obviously D now.

People forget that Wendy Davis actually had a strong electoral track record in Tarrant County in her state senate races. She still did relatively well in Tarrant in 2014 considering the year and that the Trump suburban corrosion hadn’t begun yet.

The GOP would be in a lot better shape today if Trump lost in 2016(so would the country). I only hope Trump doesnt throw the entire GOP into the wilderness for 10-12 years especially with how far left the Dem party has gone
