Okay, maybe Mike Johnson is a competent parliamentarian.

Also, there would be a bunch of FDR apologists explaining why Japanese/German/Italian internment was necessary.

Ugh, yeah, partisan red avatars in the 1940s would be as unbearable as partisan blue avatars today. And I'm saying that as someone who mostly admires FDR.

Also in the 1910s.

Actually, I can see Fuzzy Bear, with his tendency to be at least nominally reasonable On The Issues but still tirelessly excuse and defend obvious enormities from a President he supports, being a pro-internment FDR hack in the forties.

A third of posters would be John Anderson fans in 1980.

I would really love to see this forum's reaction to 1980 because I would be super excited by those results lol.

Not only did Reagan win the Presidency in the landslide, the Safe D Senate turned Republican and the House while it stayed Dem was controlled by the conservatives

tbf, the conservative coalition had controlled the House more often than not since the 1938 midterms.

Is Norfolk gone for the Tories?

Hopefully (leftist, normal). A broad-based working-class alignment including agricultural laborers has worked wonders here and I think it can do great things for the UK too.

Opinion of the Decree against Communism?
« on: July 3, 1949 at 4:33:18 pm »

Goes way too far, yeesh. I doubt I'd vote PCI if I lived in Italy but is Pope Pius seriously going to stick his neck out on this in a country like Italy?! This is the man who foisted the Reichskonkordat on us, and he's not willing to put up with the occasional hick-Marxist olive farmer in Emilia or Umbria wanting to receive the sacraments? Really?

Edward J. King regret is real!

Tilt Democratic with Jackson, likely Democratic with Mondale or Hart.

(This post dedicated to the memory of the actual Nakasone. Good night, sweet prince.)

<BRTD> And I got dunked under and brought up by this hot girl.

Baptisms in the early Church weren't cross-sex; part of the reason (possibly the entire reason; it's a live subject of historical debate) why they had female deacons was to facilitate nude baptisms of women.

Watergate Defendant McCord claims there was “political pressure” applied to other defendants to keep them quiet
« on: March 23, 1973, 12:42:06 pm »

FAKE NEWS! This whole scandal is a smear job against Nixon. He’s INNOCENT! I want names and recordings, if not, THEN I DON'T CARE!

WH aid John Dean directly implicates Nixon in Watergate
« on: June 25, 1973, 8:02:46 pm »

I’m really conflicted, Dean could be lying, but could he be telling the truth? Honestly, if Nixon really did all these things I would feel so betrayed. I trust him.

BREAKING: Nixon fires Special Prosecutor, AG resigns
« on: October 20, 1973, 9:41:56 pm »

Although, I do think President Nixon’s law and order policies have been helpful in protecting suburbs, like where I live, from the thuggery of the inner cities, this is absolutely unacceptable. Nixon should be impeached. Our President is a crook.

Grand Jury indicts 7 Nixon aides
« on: March 1, 1974, 2:46:06 pm »

After some sincere thinking I believe Nixon is guilty. As a Republican it’s hard for me to admit this, but it’s obvious Nixon broke the law. He should be impeached. I’m honestly disappointed  in the President. This stuff is disgusting.

House Judiciary Committee approves Articles of Impeachment against Nixon
« on: July 30, 1974, 11:45:02 pm »

Thank god. It’s about time we got rid of this crook, sadly some Nixon hacks continue to defend him. It’s obvious to anyone that he’s guilty. I appreciate brave Republican Congressman who voted yes on the articles. Hopefully the Senate Convicts.

White House Tapes implicate Nixon in Watergate Coverup
« on: August 6, 1974, 12:42:06 pm »

Come on guys! Sure, the recording shows he did it, but this wasn’t that bad, Nixon was just trying to cover it up because he felt bad. This isn’t impeachable, I hope he stays! #StandwithNixon

Nowhere near enough voice to text app errors in my post.

Given Reagan’s abysmal job as president, will Mondale sweep all 50 states?
« on: November 2, 1984, 10:09:32 A.M. »

Reagan worshippers can deny it all they want, but for those of us who AREN’T delusional, the answer is fairly obvious.

Cute, but having actually been a teenage campaign volunteer for Mondale at the time I can tell you it was all too apparent that he was going to get creamed. We were just fighting for the good side and hoping for something less than a 49-state sweep.

That said, history has borne us out as correct.

I have a close friend whose father is a Reagan-Mondale-Bush-Bush-Dole-Bush-Bush-McCain-Romney-Trump-Trump voter. The only year he thought the Republican nominee was out of touch with what people needed was the year of the biggest Republican landslide in recent history. There's something very poignant about the fact that he was right.

Not that I'm anti-Semitic or anything but I think it's the benevolent G-d who would obviously advocate for the death of millions to save a few more for salvation.

Marilyn Manson should get the death penalty
« on: April 20th 1999 at 1:00:00pm »

He obviously caused the shooting that occured today. How could anyone disagree?
I think I'm missing some context here. Did OSR express a similar sentiment during some recent incident?
I was referencing OSR’s views on sex ed, “don’t say gay”,  “critical race theory”, etc.

You may disagree with my view on the Florida bill or CRT or sex Ed but I would never ever say something as outrageous as that .

Maybe not the death penalty part, no, but you'd be surprised by how mainstream holding "edgy" singers or filmmakers or whatever personally responsible for mass shootings was for the first decade or so of their relevance as a national issue.
