There would be predictions Mondale or McGovern would win 1984 and 1972 for one.
Southern freiwal will save Carter-Mondale.

Also, there would be a bunch of FDR apologists explaining why Japanese/German/Italian internment was necessary.

In the 1950's European posters would be eye rolling at the need for a 'Coloreds Only US General Discussion Board.
No? A public forum - at least a blind one like this - by definition can’t practice segregated discussion.

Furthermore, literally 1-2% of British whites in the 1960s said they would be willing to rent a room out to a black person. That’s far higher rates of active discrimination than most of America.

“Who’s worse: Czar Nicholas II or Lenin?”
Lenin. At least Nicholas II didn’t suppress religious freedom or establish a new revolutionary system... that terrorized and persecuted political opposition in a whole new way. He actually began liberalizing - largely because of his cousin, Grand Duke Nicholas - his country.

Under the guise of promoting atheism, Lenin and Stalin arrested Orthodox priests, suppressed religion, and made the adoption of atheism a goal of the state. Nicholas II had a... not very nice view of Jews, but he suppressed anti-Semitic riots and actively fought anti-Semitism, particularly after 1911. And, of course, he didn’t establish a new government that COULD grant total religious freedom only to suppress religion. Nicholas II’s October Manifesto was criticized by the Russian Orthodox Church for legalizing religious freedom, in fact.

How is Orange County "much better" than Appalachia? It's one of the historically most right-wing and racist places outside of the South and is full of rich people. Let's dispel with this fiction of a dichotomy of "tolerant, socially liberal" suburbanites and "racist hicks." We should never forget that the good people of West Virginia broke away from their wealthy masters in Richmond to stay loyal to the Union.
It should be noted that this past of a Racist South vs. Slightly Less Racist North/West has been broken very rapidly in recent years. Racial disparities, racist language, and several other measures indicate a new center of gravity for American racism, beginning in NYC, out to the rest of that state, down through Appalachia.
