That's a pathetic excuse. The fact that most voters in Kentucky are either former Democrats and/or ancestral Democrats (I presume that was what he meant) means virtually nothing when 9 times out of 10 they vote Republican.

By that logic, the GOP has an uphill battle in West Virginia, Mississippi, and Tennessee in 2020.  

It reminds me of tweets that I've seen after JBE was re-elected.  I kid you not: "Louisiana is a Democrat blue state.  Always has been, no wonder the Democrat won!"
