Lifelong Republican from Massachusetts who had a personal fondness for Kerry because he was their Senator.

I do know one, but it’s mostly a case of the person changing their politics.

What I meant is “doesn’t care whether or not a candidate served in the military”.

A #populist in Grenlee county Arizona who liked their home state senator, who would later refuse to vote for Romney in 2012.

Someone who liked 'maverick' McCain more than Bush, maybe even someone who thought Obama was too inexperienced and an empty suit (maybe they supported Hillary in the primary and were still sore about her losing).

Funny thing is his voting pattern has been Bush-Kerry-McCain-Obama-Trump which ironically tracks how Trumbull County has swung in each cycle since 2000 as well.

The idea that was typical is laughable, as Bush's approvals with Republicans were higher than Trump's have been right now. His approval with Republicans in Nov of 2004 was 96%!!!!!

Interesting that there weren’t more Republicans who were unhappy with No Child Left Behind or Bush’s handling of Tora Bora.

My parents were close to falling under this description. Palin was what made them vote for Obama in the end.

Why did your parents support Kerry in 2004 and McCain in 2008 pre-Palin?

Just a bit of data, if one takes the 2008 exit polls as been accurate, they indicate 4.4 million voters who voted for Kerry voted for McCain which is more than the 3 million Romney voters that switched to Clinton.

They didn't think Obama was experienced enough to be President (plus I think there was bitterness that Hillary wasn't nominated). Obama had their support from the start in 2012 though.

That's ironic if you're talking about Trumbull County, Ohio, where my Dad spent a good portion of his young manhood in the 1930s.

Funny thing is his voting pattern has been Bush-Kerry-McCain-Obama-Trump which ironically tracks how Trumbull County has swung in each cycle since 2000 as well.

However, not a single County in the Country matches the voting pattern of Fuzzy Bear. The only Kerry-McCain-Obama County in the nation is Benton County, Mississippi, which voted for Gore. There are only 3 Bush-Kerry-McCain Counties in the nation, and all are in Kentucky and voted for Romney.

Really after looking at the swing is some famous Southern military counties, Bell, Comanche, Hardin, Onslow, Cumberland, Pulaski, they all swing well towards Obama, so it was pretty much just the racist hicks....and Fuzzy of course.
