Connecticut Sen. Joe Lieberman picks former Indiana Rep. Tim Roemer, a pro-life Democrat as his running mate.

How would the Democratic base handle Roemer? Could Roemer deliver Indiana and Ohio to Lieberman?

Wouldn't it appeal to Independent voters who feel that Bush still has no mandate to govern?

It doesn't matter. It's not even because of Roemer, Lieberman will not attract enough base turnout to unseat an incumbent with acceptable approvals, full stop.

Would Black voters stay home, or would Bush get 12 percent of Black votes?

Could Roemer help in Indiana?

Black voters would probably stay home. Indiana's no swing state in this matchup so it doesn't matter, if he does it's a curiosity for weirdos like us.

President George Bush (R-TX) / Vice President Dick Cheney (R-WY) ✓
Senatoe Joe Lieberman (D-CT) / Fmr. Congressman Tim Roemer (D-IN)

Lieberman loses bigger than Kerry, but I doubt it's a landslide because the nation was in a right-wing mood at the time and Lieberman was as good of a choice for that as Kerry was. The trouble is that he doesn't excite the Democrats' base and probably turns off WWC. Picking an architect of the Department of Homeland Security as his running mate doesn't help, even if he opposed it later. At least Kerry balanced the ticket with the more progressive Edwards.
