Probably not, but the Kentucky media isn't exactly the real world.

I meant in terms of being a potential means to actually install Bevin for a second term against the will of the voters, not in terms of being a rationale to question Beshear's legitimacy for the next four years. Obviously the latter was always going to happen no matter what, even if Beshear won by a Laura Kelly-type margin.

Probably not. But I think there was some minor county election in Kentucky once about 15 years ago where the Republicans overturned it over fake allegations of fraud.

Well, one thing's for sure: 2019 is the year when simply refusing to step down after losing reelection has started to become part of the standard right-wing playbook. Here's hoping it doesn't start paying off for them.

It will be interesting to see how Kentuckians react if the legislature overturns the election results. I can't imagine that a majority of the state would approve of this regardless of who they voted for. Only the fringe would approve of such insanity.

I don't see how this would possibly comport with one person, one vote, but who knows what a Federalist Society drone would do.

Lol this is perfect. Bevin throwing a tantrum.

Seriously though, the modern GOP barely cares for our Republic.

Go sit on a tack.

He has a right certainly to recanvass.  That just verifies precinct and county tables.

He has a right to a recount if he pays what is required.

Beyond that he has to make a real case based on real facts.

Getting tired of all the lefties complainTS.

I was a Rubio man.  Morning Joe and Hillary helped create Trump.  So all of us have to suffer.

But I will suffer less, as I supported Trump over Hillary.  AS A RESIDENT OF ARKANSAS TILL THIS YEAR, I COULD NEVER SUPPORT HILLARY.

I HAVE MOVED TO TENNESSEE.  I WILL HAVE TO GHANGE MY MONIKER.

For a recount, it's not just him paying for it, he has to convince a judge of irregularities in the election and the judge gives a court order for a recount based on the evidence provided.

He has to do whatever the laws require.

Again after the Minnesota and Washington recounts, and possibly one in Colorado, were Democrats found ballots in car trunks, please do not complain about Republicans seeking recounts.

The only solution is for Democrats to stop being spineless and do the same things that Republicans do.

Bevin didnt win due to turnout exceeding 40%; whereas, in 2015, it was only 30%. Beshear still only won by 5K.

I have no issue with asking for a recount as long as all of the rules are being followed.  But this whole "state legislature can have the final say" is ridiculous.

The Kentucky Libertarian Party put out a release thanking their candidates. laying out why they ran a candidate against Bevin and concluded by telling Bevin supporters that their tears are delicious

When I first saw this the (cropped) title of this thread, I thought Gov. Bevin (out of frustration of having lost re-election) threw someone's toddler somewhere, and I was wondering why anyone would hand their toddlers to him in the first place...  Tongue

This crap seems to be a new patern in GOP talkingpoints. Reminds me of the clown who ran in PA last year, arguing a 47-28% poll meant 53% are opposed to Bob Casey. Roll Eyes

It's the reverse of the old saying "if you're not with us, you're against us".  The new logic is "if they're not against us, they must be with us".

The Kentucky Supreme Court seems pretty balanced, so I don't see them allowing it if nothing else.

There is anecdotal evidence that Libertarians have started drawing more votes away from Democrats than they previously did so there is no guarantee that enough of those votes would have put Bevin over the top or if those people would have even turned out without a third party to vote for.
