These two states had their democratic Attorney Generals vacate their offices to run for governor. Whether for better or for worse results for the democrats. However, by not seeking re election the republicans were able to easily win these two AG positions which have been held by a democrat for decades.

Would they have been able to win another term as Attorney General?

Beshear - No
Hood - Lean yes, though very unsure.

Andy Beshear made the right move to run for governor, Hood did not.

This is pretty much exactly what I thought. Beshear really only won due to Bevin being so unpopular.

I could mabye see Hood having won, considering he won last time by 10%, but Lynn Fitch would have been by far his toughest challenger yet.

While I think Beshear's strengths as a candidate certainly helped him (I don't think just any generic Democrat would have defeated Bevin), Beshear also would not have won the Governor's race had Bevin not been so unpopular. I think Beshear would have lost reelection running against Cameron or another Republican, given that Republicans won every other statewide race in KY last night. So Beshear made a good call running for Governor.

Hood maybe could have eeked out another win as Attorney General (given that he kept the Gov race close and he would have been the incumbent), but it would have been a really close race. In the end, I think Hood ultimately would have narrowly lost reelection (the margin would be closer than his race for Governor was last night, though). So I think Hood made a bad call running for Governor.
