Well welcome to the party but by the world liberal we don't mean it in the exact way that people in the US use the term. The National Liberal Coalition, or NLC, is a economically centrist-centre right and socially liberal party. You could compare us, in some ways, to the DLC in the United States or to the vast amount of liberal parties in Europe, the Free Democrats of Germany, the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy in the Netherlands, and, to an extent, the Liberal Democrats in the UK. I don't really know much about your opinions, you may indeed fit with the NLC in its views and orientation, I just don't want you to be confused about what type of party we are.

The JCP is the dominant liberal party in the Pacific Region. We'd love to have you, Xahar!

Clearly, everyone should join the JCP.

Anyway, fairly interesting party developments lately, and we have indeed seen the emergence of four major parties. The Federalists are the latest reincarnation of the Republicans/ACA/etc, the NLC reminds me of the UAC, and the PLP=Democrats/Socialist Democrats/etc.

Does the JCP have any members outside of the Pacific besides BRTD?

You should join us!

Oh, and welcome BRTD. Smiley

AIM has pretty much served its purpose.  I only stayed a member because of inertia, but since I'm thinking of getting wholly active in politics once more:

Lewis Trondheim
North Dakota (yeah, back to Fort Berthold)
Objectively Counter-Revolutionary Left-Deviationist Party

We both know what party you really belong in, Lewis!

The new party is committed to the principles of Midwestern Expansionism, Ingsoc, and the praise and worship of our lord and saviour Jesus Bgwah.

Perhaps someday in the distant future, the Pacific and Midwestern regions will unite to conquer the Mideastern region!

Vepres
Independent
Colorado

I may register to specific party at another time once I become more familiar with Altasian politics.

You should totally join the Democratic Alliance!

The RPP might be a better fit. In four out of five regions, the average RPPer's PM score is in the libertarian quadrant. Grin

Yes, I was leaning towards the RPP from the beginning (after all, you recruited me, sort of...), however, I just want to make sure they don't have a position or leader that really turns me off to the party. I thought the RPP was conservative, but I guess I was wrong.

Just join the Democratic Alliance! We're a centrist pragmatist party.

[note, I don't feel like having 300 airheads attacking the DA yet again with whatever names they call us]

I can get very fired up and ideological at times, just look at my first topic created on this board. Also, I look at my PM score, and I estimate that I'm in the top 5% most libertarian members on this board. Just think a libertarian version of, say, McCain. One who gets fired up and emotional at times (and who sometimes makes mistakes *cough* suspending campaign *cough*).`

A fiery Libertarian, yes you would definately fit in on this side, meet some of our Yellow/Green Avatars especially SPC. Its your choice though and there are many Libertarians in the DA as well. Plus party affiliation really means very little here on Atlasia, they don't last that long. The DA just started in Jan, the RPP last August. The SDP and NLC just died off recently. The exception is the JCP being around since 2004 if I am not mistaken, however its members are very inactive except when it comes to voting in elections(expect a hit squad of Washington Avatars at my door any minute, must get my "little friend" ready Cheesy ).

The former members of SDP now in the JCP disagree with this comment on the inactivity of the JCP.

Yes but how many SDP turned JCP are there 5, 6. The original JCP are as a whole innactive.

Yawn. The RPP certainly isn't more "active" than the pre-merger JCP.

I'd like to register with the Democratic Alliance please

Liberal Democrat from NY recruited by Vepres

Welcome to Atlasia! Although the DA has endorsed a radical libertarian for President. The JCP is much more in line with you politically if you're a "NY Liberal Democrat," I suspect. Wink

Since when do "radical libertarians" support increased federal funding for education, subsidies for nuclear power plants, and subsidies for ecological cars? Oh, and a federal minimum wage?

Clearly your defintion of "radical libertarian" is a bit...ummm....weird.

Despite the fact that he openly stated he did not like the subsidies part of that bill, made it sound like he would only support a minimum wage as a compromise (and wants it to be quite low), has a radical libertarian PM score, etc. etc. But it's not like I called the fellow an anarchist, which is what you seem to be suggesting.

I'm just saying that since your party has "Democratic" in its name, some new people might assume it is the more liberal party. But it is more like some Robert Byrd/Arlen Specter half-breed, and I am simply informing our new friend that, based on what he has told about his politics, he should perhaps give further thought to which party he wishes to be a member of. But, party membership isn't terribly important in the game so I see no reason to pursue the issue any further.

You must realize the JCP has nothing to do with religion Tongue

Indeed, I'm perhaps the most religious person in the party and I'm not really religious.

I've pondered changing the name, but I love the randomness of it...

Are you allowed to change parties?

Got an email from bgwah. Said some stuff about the DA that is not very appealing to me......

What exactly did he say about us?

Most likely some made up talking points, what is new?

Actually, he said that a social libertarian ran the party.

I believe I said they endorsed a libertarian for President. Not quite the same... Wink

While I can't say I expected Atlasia's left to stay under one party for long, I'm curious to know what you think the benefit of a new Democratic Party is.
