Bush 46.88%
Gore 41.67%
Nader 10.37%
Stupid Nader.

Kerry 56.01%
Bush 42.00%
Badnarik 1.44%
Nader 0.40%
Evidently, Nader voters learned their lesson.

How? If they were in Texas, who they voted for did not matter to start with. It's not as if Gore or Kerry had a shot in hell at winning.

I lived in one county in 2000 and one in 2004, so I'll list both.

County I lived in 2000:

Craven, NC-
Bush -60.95%
Gore -38.18%
Buchanan -0.52%
Browne -0.35%

Bush -62.44%
Kerry -37.13%
Badnarik -0.36%
Write-ins -0.07%

County I lived in 2004:

Nash, NC-
Bush -58.97%
Gore -40.56%
Browne -0.24%
Buchanan -0.23%

Bush -58.14%
Kerry -41.66%
Badnarik -0.18%
Write-ins -0.03%

I'm pretty sure that the Tories have won the popular vote in East Sussex for about a century, although since 1997 the constituency breakdown has been 4 Lab, 3 Con and 1 Lib Dem.

The Liberals did quite well in Sussex in one election in the late 19th century. But not in 1906.

my hometown of Memphis: Shelby County, TN

2000:
Gore 56.42%
Bush 42.09%

2004:
Kerry 57.50%
Bush 41.91%

Interestingly enough, my county was the only county in Tennessee that Kerry did better than Gore.
There's an obvious explanation though: white flight to either neighboring counties Desoto, MS or Fayette, TN. Also, as of (I believe) 2004, Shelby County is now majority black.

My college Auburn University: Lee County, AL

2000:
Bush 58.63%
Gore 39.08%

2004:
Bush 62.70%
Kerry 36.38%

Auburn is an overall conservative college, and Lee Co. is about as Republican as the state

Baltimore City.......Need I say more.

We basically vote for whoever has the D next to their name. Yet on a state level, in the primaries we despise the front runner for some odd reason (1992-Tsongas, 1980-Brown, 1972-Wallace)

It's scary that 38 percent is a strong showing for a Democrat in an Oklahoma county. Tongue

Lane County, Oregon

Weird thing is that Staten Island barely voted Gore in 2000, yet  voted in a large margin for Bush in 2004 (56.09%)

Probably the fact that he beat Kerry by a larger margin than he did Gore, and also because of the 9\11 effect.
