(Come to think of it, since Vermont is the only state to not increase it's vote total for Bush in 2004, aren't 49 of the states pro-incumbent in this instance?)

If we're talking percentages, didn't SD and NC also have their percentages for Bush drop in 2004?

Yes.

There was no state that actually had a lower Bush vote total (raw number-wise) than in 2000.  Vermont had the smallest increase, at 1.1%.

Hawaii has a very high cost of living, and most people have to work hard to earn a living. My relatives in Hawaii are Asian-Americans, and traditionally Democrat. My grandparents live in a small 1 story house where the rooms merge together.
Somebody explain this phrase, please. Sorry.

I am not entirely sure.  He either means a duplex style (where two, seperate houses are built in one structure,) or a studio style (where there is really only one big room with only a bathroom and storage closets being sealed off by doors.
