List the issues where you do not follow the majority of your political party.

-Farm Subsidies, I'm opposed.
-AA, I'm opposed.
-Marijuana legalization... maybe?
-Prostitution legalization... maybe?
-Not really all that pro-union.
-Gun Control, I'm opposed.
-Free Trade, I support.

PC Score: (-0.51, -5.51); Libertarian-liberal.

I think that abortion does not need to be a federal issue.

Prostitution legalization - Support keeping it illegal, because I'm a prude.

Um, I can't think of anymore at the moment Tongue

Sure, I'll go with that Smiley

-Iraq War (I support pulling out only as the Iraqi government becomes more stable, rather than based on an arbitrary timeline)

-Abortion (Roe v Wade should be overturned, and the issue of abortion should be left once more for state legislatures and/or ordinary citizens via state initiative or referendum to decide as they see fit)

-Gay Marriage (also, advocates for gay marriage are making the same grave mistake abortion-access advocates did by giving up on trying to appeal to citizens and state legislatures, and turning to the courts to impose their views on civil rights.)

-Gun Control (I see the Second Amendment as affirming for individual citizens their right to own firearms, rather than just collective entities like the state as many Democrats unfortunately advocate)

-affirmative action (get rid of it entirely)

-the permanent extension of the PATRIOT Act

-government funding of faith-based charities
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'll add more as soon as I think of them.

Gun Control - Against
Millitary Spending - I'm a budget hawk
Death Penalty - Only opposed because of cost. If they find a way to make it cheaper, I'd support it.

Faith based charities I also have no problem with.
I believe religion has a good role to play in society, even though government should be secular.

I was also going to say more control on Section 8 housing, but a lot of Dems are on board with that such as Mike Stack and Jon Saidel.  Anyway, wow, u sure you're not a Republican?

section 8 is a great program for poors.

dont you think we have enough homeless?

the real fear that people have about section 8 is that some poor black family might move in beside of them.  that is what it is all about.

I never said eliminate.  I said there are people on it who mooch of the Feds and smoke crack and blast their rap and sometimes rock music all hours of the night.  I'm telling you I've seen it firsthand.  All I'm saying is there should be some checks and balances on a program that destroys the quality of working class neighborhoods.

Well I really don't care that much about these much (i.e. faith based initatives) and I was strongly opposed to the Iraq War from the beginning (though I think it would be foolish to pull out now), free trade is very conditional and I don't support abolishing welfare.  I also waver a bit on social security.

Well, there are some issues that neither the party or I have really clear positions on, like guns, affirmative action, and immigration.

These are my positions
Guns: Enforce existing laws
Affirmative Action: Katrina may have made me a bit more pro
Immigration: No vigilantes, should be allowed drivers licenses, strongly against H-1B and Bush's worker visas

Hating poor people is probably the biggest one.

Well, there are some issues that neither the party or I have really clear positions on, like guns, affirmative action, immigration...

...abortion, health care, education, social security, drugs, Iraq, free trade, and so many more.

Affirmative Action - It should be based on economic status, not race.
Gun Control - This issue only loses Democrats votes.
Trade - I honestly have no idea about how I feel on this issue.

Abortion (the only women's rights issue I support is equal pay and family leave act), Homosexual Marriage, Domestic Spying/PATRIOT Act, Gun Control
Affirmative Action--I agree with Defarge (economic-based), but I wouldn't do it yet, until MS has a majority-black population (where they can control their own destiny).

Y'all know why I'm a Democrat Smiley

BTW, anyone see Tucker Carlson tonight? ... I usually don't like the Air America woman, but I sure did tonight.  She said the exact same thing I was saying about what SHOULD (and really did) distinguish the parties (see my RANT on the Ney topic in the Congressional elections forum).
