I thank the Senator for informing us that we have had some action on the issue. Just as a note, this bill will not repeal the Lincoln Fair Wages Act. Instead, this simply adds to the legislation. It sets a minimum at which wages can be set by the Lincoln Fair Wages Act. Also the Lincoln Fair Wages is unclear in the wages that will be set, and this bill provides some clarity on this issue. Also the Fair Wages Act, does not deal with overtime pay or establish a set working week. Also I would like to ask the GM Team, if the LWC has submitted any standards, if they have we can revise the bill accordingly, to make sure that there would be a wage hike.

ACT TO ESTABLISH A LIVING WAGE

A. HOURLY WAGE

I. The hourly wage in Lincoln shall be no less than $12 $16 an hour
II. Any work over 8 hours on a given day shall count as overtime hours
III. Any overtime pay shall be an hourly amount of time and a half or at least $20

B. IMPLEMENTATION

II. This bill will take effect one week after being signed by the Governor

But I want to adjust it a bit to make it align with the Fair Wages Act, so I'll propose a slightly modified amendment

II. The exact minimum wage for any given location must be between $16 and $31 and will be determined by the Lincoln Wages Committee as outlined in the Lincoln Fair Wages Act (L. 10.3.3)
III. II. Any work over 8 hours on a given day shall count as overtime hours
IV.III. Any overtime pay shall be an hourly amount of time and a half or at least $20 of the amount determined to be the fair wage for that Lincoln by the Lincoln Wages Committee.

B. IMPLEMENTATION

II. This bill will take effect one week after being signed by the Governor

II. The exact minimum wage for any given location must be between $16 18and $31 $33 and will be determined by the Lincoln Wages Committee as outlined in the Lincoln Fair Wages Act (L. 10.3.3)
III. The minimum wage will be indexed to inflation
III IV.. Any work over 8 hours on a given day shall count as overtime hours
IV. V. Any overtime pay shall be an hourly amount of time and a half of the amount determined to be the fair wage for that specific location by the Lincoln Wages Committee.
VI. Overtime wage will be indexed to inflation.

B. IMPLEMENTATION

II. This bill will take effect one week after being signed by the Governor

I concur with the Speaker. We have tried to do a lot for this bill and in the end, it looks like it’s largely unworkable.
