Would a President Al Gore have kept Vice President Lieberman? The more-centrist Lieberman was at odds with the liberal wing of the Democratic Party.

Gore ran a leftwing populist campaign and would the two have clashed ideologically?

Absolutely. Like any good politician, he would milk national unity for all it was worth immediately after 9/11.

He'd keep him unless Lieberman himself decided to call it quits. I don't see Lieberman going full on neocon as Gore's VP the way he did with Bush in the white house.
