of all 50 states, compared with a year ago:

https://www.bls.gov/web/laus/laumstch.htm

It also ranks just behind Alaska as the state with the worst rate:

What does it mean for the election ?

Interesting that nearby AL and LA had the biggest declines in the unemployment rate over the past year.

MS, KY and LA have relatively high unemployment rates in the US, while the first primary and caucus states IA, NH and SC have very low rates.

Interesting that Appalachian Virginia does not seem to have the problems of WV ...

I think there's a lot of problems with that map, the most obvious being how different states define unemployment.

It means that Mississippi swing voters, who are all astute observers of the state's economic indicators, will now carefully reevaluate the two candidates' platforms, rethink their voting intentions, and make a level-headed, rational decision in the voting booth based on pocketbook concerns and bread-and-butter issues. As noted genius strategist James Carville (who single-handedly elected Bill Clinton and has never been proven wrong on anything) once famously said, #It’sTheEconomyStupid

This is BLS data so the measurement is standard across all 50 states.

It's from the BLS which should utilize a uniform standard.  Granted the uniform standard always understates employment--yeah, what ebsy said.

Ok, so granted why is there a 3-4% drop in unemployment once you cross a state line into Virginia, into Iowa for instance. I have a feeling that something is not uniform in these results, it doesn't seem natural, certain states stick out like a sore thumb.

THE WV/VA is pretty easy as the I-81 Corridor is a whole different world than WV.  The IL one is a bit of an anomaly.

At least it isn't run by a Democrat governor and Democrat supermajority state legislature like NY is, which insists on foisting terrible left wing policies that affects one's day-to-day life in addition to the unemployment rate.
