North Carolina (without an injured Cole Anthony) loses at home to Wofford, 68-64.  Oddly enough, two years ago Wofford also won by 4 at UNC.

I can't believe that stat that flashed on the screen - first team to win back-to-back games in Chapel Hill since Georgia Tech 84-85. Really? Duke never accomplished it? I read three times looking for a 'ranked' or 'unranked' qualifier.

Looks like you're right and they're wrong.  According to sports-reference.com, Duke won in Chapel Hill on 3/7/15 (84-77) and then again on 2/17/16 (74-73).

Bart Torvik now has UNC as 11% chance of receiving an NCAA Tournament bid. Insanity. I don't buy that, and another source still has it at 73%, but I think it's definitely between those two, but probably at least 40-50% depending on injury timeframe. They are #95 in the NET Rankings released today, so maybe I am too bullish!

NC State (#50) is simply lucky to have gotten their first Q1 win yesterday. They still have realistic opportunities @Syracuse, @UNC, and vs. Florida State/Duke/Louisville, but the schedule is only slightly more difficult than last year. Four absolutely dreadful wins on there.

NET Rankings Out! Some notables:
#3 San Diego State
#4 Butler
#5 Baylor
#9 Stanford (Similar to Erik Haslam, unsurprisingly)
#10 Dayton
#19 Liberty
#20 Duquesne
#22 Richmond
#43 DePaul

Penn State in the top 25.  Kind of bummed the Illini don't even have a vote in the AP Poll yet (we do have some in the Coaches' Poll), but I guess it's understandable.  Just keep winnin'. Smiley

On a side note, even though it is for some inexplicable reason on the SEC Network this year, Illinois-Missouri is this Saturday in St. Louis.  To my knowledge, it's one of the very few rivalries in college basketball that uses a Texas-Oklahoma or Florida-Georgia setup with the crowd split 50/50.  It has lost a BIT of its appeal over the last several years, but it is routinely one of my favorite sporting events of the year, and it is a truly unique atmosphere.  I must admit, it's often my "super bowl" of the non-conference, and I'd say it's very likely Missouri is our "biggest rival."

A hilarious look at the Big Ten standings right now (after conference record, I sorted by AP ranking, overall record and then alphabetically):

#15 Michigan State: 1-0 (7-3)

#5 Ohio State: 1-1 (9-1)
#7 Maryland: 1-1 (10-1)
#14 Michigan: 1-1 (8-3)
#23 Penn State: 1-1 (9-2)
Indiana: 1-1 (10-1)
Illinois: 1-1 (8-3)
Iowa: 1-1 (8-3)
Rutgers: 1-1 (8-3)
Purdue: 1-1 (6-4)
Minnesota: 1-1 (5-5)
Wisconsin: 1-1 (5-5)
Nebraska: 1-1 (5-6)

Northwestern: 0-1 (5-4)

No home team has lost a game yet, though I predict that streak to come to an end on Wednesday when MSU visits Northwestern, but ... honestly, who knows??  That game wraps up Big Ten play until the new year, and it would be absolutely hilarious to have every single team tied at 1-1, haha.

A 14 way tie for first in the Big Ten

Alonzo Verge in his first season at ASU had a career night, scoring 43 points, as ASU proceeded to lose to St. Mary's 96-56.  Only two other players scored for ASU and ASU had their full roster available.

In a game I nearly went to in person, Kentucky losses to Utah. Wacky CBB season continues.

Though I am going to the Kentucky/Ohio State and UCLA/UNC double header on Saturday. Considering I've been to every Oklahoma home game this year as well, I may have a shot (pun intended) at a personal record for college basketball games I attend in a single season.

Haslam had Utah by 1! Kenneth was right that the lying media is too stupid to rank teams so they'd rather call this season 'crazy' than admit to being so completely ignorant of the 2018-19 incarnation of certain schools. Kentucky is rightfully ranked outside the top 40 at respectable outlets.

Dogs win 87-85 in 2OT!  For a while it seemed like neither team really wanted to win.
