2020 HCPistan General Election

Social Democrats - 38.64%, 257 seats
The Left - 13.31%, 89 seats
Independent Democratic Alliance - 10.39%, 69 seats
Greens - 7.79%, 52 seats
The New Right - 6.82%, 45 seats
Liberals - 5.84%, 39 seats
Labour Party - 3.90%, 26 seats
Democratic Centre - 3.25%, 22 seat
New Democratic Party - 2.92%, 19 seats
Independents For Change - 2.27%, 15 seats
Feminist Initiative - 2.27%, 15 seats
Christian Democrats - 1.62%, 11 seats
Libertarian Party - 0.65%, 4 seats
White Citizens Council - 0.32%, 2 seats
Speaker, 1 seat

In one of the worst performances for the ruling party, the Social Democrats, led by Parrotguy, still received far and away the largest number of seats, although 76 short of a majority. While pundits expected the Prime Minister to be returned with a coalition government, what happened next shocked the country; a rainbow coalition to oust the Social Democrats after nine decades of constant rule.

Leader of the mainline socialist party, the Left, MB, cobbled together the IDA, composed of mostly centrist independents, the Greens led by Razze, the Liberals (ironic Republicans) led by Kongress, the Labour Party (left-wing orange avatars) led by Sestak, the Democratic Centre (corporate Buddhist Bennetites) led by scuto, the New Democratic Party (troll left wing orange avatars) led jointly by ltom and Technocracy Timmy, the Independents for Change (left wing independents) led by Scott, and the Feminist Initiative led by Skunk. This bizarre coalition of chaos had 346 seats, 13 more than necessary.

The crossbench was composed of the New Right (unironic Republicans) led by Sanchez, the Christian Democrats (right-leaning orange avatars) led by Cath, the Libertarians of lfromnj, and the White Citizens Council (unironic fascists) led by gr assroots.

MB was inaugurated as the first non-Social Democrat Prime Minister since 1927.

Parrotguy resigned from his position as Leader of the Social Democrats. His official statement was: "Horrible. Just horrible."

The Middle Eastern Cuisine Liberation Front - 3.3% - 1 seat Note - theoretically entitled to 7 seats, but HCP is the only member, so...

By my sheer force of will and strength of character I have won the hearts, minds, livers, stomachs, and gizzards of my countrymen.

Parrotguy resigned from his position as Leader of the Social Democrats. His official statement was: "Horrible. Just horrible."

The rather unstable nature of MB's "Rainbow Coalition" government meant it collapsed almost immediately. The second election in 2020 in HCPistan saw some monumental shifts in the electorate; the Social Democrats saw a resurgence in their support after electing their new leader Ted Bessell, what came to be described by the state media as "Bessellmania". Other big winners were the Independents for Change caucus, leader nominally by Scott, who quadrupled their seat share, and the Liberal Party, whose leader Kongress stayed the course for an 11-seat gain. A new party emerged, the Antifa Alliance, led by Santander, who was elected into the parliament alongside 7 others.

2020 HCPistan General Election, Take II

Social Democrats - 48.42%, 322 seats (+65)
The Left - 11.43%, 76 seats (-13)
Independents For Change - 9.02%, 60 seats (+45)
Liberals - 7.52%, 50 seats (+11)
Democratic Centre - 3.91%, 26 seats (+4)
Greens - 3.76%, 25 seats (-27)
The New Right - 3.31%, 22 seats (-23)
Christian Democrats - 2.56%, 17 seats (+6)
Labour Party - 2.41%, 16 seats (-10)
Independent Democratic Alliance - 1.95%, 13 seats (-59)
Feminist Initiative - 1.80%, 12 seats (-3)
New Democratic Party - 1.50%, 10 seats (-9)
ANTIFA Alliance - 1.20%, 8 seats (+8)
Libertarian Party - 1.20%, 8 seats (+4)
Speaker, 1 seat

Social Democratic leader Ted Bessell reached out and formed a governing coalition with Labour's Sestak, who would become Minister of State Security, a most coveted position within the cabinet.

Meanwhile, the broad front Rainbow Coalition collapsed as the Liberals, Democratic Centre, and the Independent Democrats (in addition to the poached Labour Party) left the coalition to sit on the crossbench. PM MB was reinstalled as Leader of the Opposition, and Ted Bessell was inaugurated as Prime Minister of HCPistan, erasing MB's government as a mere blip in the 93-year long Social Democratic domination of the office.

Congreso de la Nación Hcpeño

Cámara de Diputados
Gobierno - Todos por la justicia (256 seats)
- Partido socialista obrero hcpeño (PSOH) with 221 seats, is the current ruling party, led in the Chamber of Deputies by Prime Minister  Fubart Solman and Deputy Prime Minister (and Interior Minister) Tack. The PSOH stands for a standard centre-left ideology albeit with a more populist and somewhat radical rhetorical flair.
- Partido liberal (PL) joins the PSOH in the minority coalition government. It is led in the Chamber by Minister of Justice kongress. The party used to be a major right-wing party but has shrunk down to a special interests party for left-leaning voters who do not associate with the PSOH for aesthetic or historical reasons. It has 35 seats.

Oposición

- Coalición federal (122 seats)
-- Consenso (C) - a 50-person broadly centre-to-far-right coalition, the Consenso is led by Conservatopia, a plucky upstart who has captured the media's attention.
-- Convergència democrática (CD) - the alliance of 33 centrist and right-leaning former independents, the party has received some new support thanks to leader Abdullah's successful charm offensive throughout the campaign.
-- Democracia cristiana (DC) is the 28-member Christian Democratic party, most famous for its tragicomic leader Baptista Minola and for its stalwart denouncement of the Orangist movement.
-- Unión liberal radical (ULR) is a libertarian party led by Santander. The 11-member caucus is usually known for its troublemaking - some leading off with pithy one-liners and others with hour-long tirades.

- No más de LOCOS autoritarios (118 seats)
-- El Naranjo (N) is an unconventional centre-left party, with many accusations lobbed at the Orange Tree for its supposed ties to a cult, although officially the party is Secular. The party's rather laconic leader - ltomlinson - does little to dispel the rumors that this party with 80 seats is not aligned with cultists.
-- Lista independientes por el cambio - Nuevo día (LIPEC-ND) is a united list of left-leaning independents, with no "official" leadership or whip. However, in general, the 38-member caucus works closely with the Orange Tree as a result of prominent member Scott's friendship with several Orangists.

- Juntos ganaremos la revolución (73 seats)
-- Partido comunista de HCPistan (PCHcp) is the umbrella alliance of far-left forces in HCPistan, ranging from revisionist socialists to Stalinists. Holding together this coalition of 45 members is YE.
-- Partido ecologista hcpeño - Los verdes - Frente amplio (PEH-LV-FA) is a green-oriented leftist outlet, led by the immaculately popular and passionate khuzifenq, who commands the 28-seat alliance.

Senado

Gobierno - Todos por la justicia (73 seats)
- PSOH 71 seats, led in the Senate by Parrotguy.
- PL 2 seats, led by S019.

Oposición

- Coalición federal (42 seats)
-- C 17 seats, led by VAR.
-- CD 13 seats, led by Thumb.
-- DC 8 seats, led by Cath.
-- ULR 4 seats, led by Damocles.

- Juntos ganaremos la revolución (21 seats)
-- PCHcp  16 seats led by Truman.
-- PEH-LV-FA 5 seats led by Razze .

- No más de LOCOS autoritarios (16 seats)
-- N 10 seats, led Skunk.
-- LIPEC-ND 6 seats, unofficially led by Crane Husband.
