Honestly, I can get past the bombs, flying Leia, the milk, the astral projection, Rey Nobody... there is no single "thing" that ruined The Last Jedi. It's just a mess in its entirety because the scope of the movie was just so small. We still haven't seen anything about the state of the galaxy. The technology exists to take the audience anywhere, and instead we got a slow-speed chase in space and side plots that went nowhere.

That's another good point. I concur. One of my biggest criticisms of the sequel trilogy is the pathetic world-building. This was evident in 'The Force Awakens' too. What does this galaxy under the New Republic look like? How does this new galactic government function? Why does there need to be a Resistance while their side is the status quo? Does the Republic not have a military? Why and how did the First Order manage to become so powerful? It's like they ignored those questions because of 'The Phantom Menace' and its overwhelming injection of galactic politics into the story. They may have bungled that, and I appreciate learning lessons from the prequels, but we still need some politics to establish how this world operates.

It's hard to find a happy in between to make sense of the universe that we are trying to invest ourselves in

You're right about all those, but all the same, it could've been entertainingly bad like Attack of the Clones if it weren't for "Rey Nobody".

So, what happens in Rise of Skywalker? Is there going to be another superweapon like in Return of the Jedi?

On another note, Disney should retroactively remove the infamous kissing scene from The Empire Strikes Back.

They cut out a whole subplot involving Leia trying to warn the Republic of the First Order; the subplot apparently its still present in the novelization. It's a shame because literally 30 seconds of dialogue in which they explained what the First Order is and what happened to the republic would have made a huge difference, at least for me.

He apparently directed a good movie? Well good for him, I guess. All the criticism he got for TLJ must have lighted a fire under him. It doesn't make TLJ good though.

I agree. Even just a hologram of the new Republic's leader briefly talking to Leia or something would have been enough.

Brick is great. Can't judge The Last Jedi because as a general rule I don't rate fan films.

He had no clue how to direct a Star Wars film, but I enjoyed Looper.

His direction was okay [if not necessarily a good fit], it's the writing that he got all wrong.

Well Knives Out is getting fantastic reviews, I'm shocked. Maybe he just needs to stay away from sci-fi only.
