I think I don't have to introduce this Texan county with its special electoral history to you. Despite being a tiny county (only 3,200 inhabitants in the 70's), Cottle was a Democratic isle surrounded by a deep ocean of deadly water in the 1972 presidential election, having voted for McGovern by only 7 votes or 0.6%. All of its adjacent counties voted for Nixon by distinct margins, with Foard being the most Democratic county. How likely is it that the official result for this county and for that election is not correct?
