An unfortunate conclusion that you’ve come to Mr. Vice President. I don’t feel that protecting rapists and traitors are in our countries’ best interests but we have our differences, don’t we.

Not killing them doesn't translate to protecting them.

I don't think people want the capital punishment ban reversed considering it was adopted quickly after the reset with support from the two main parties. I have trouble with having capital punishment in military tribunal for rape for example when it's not in civilian tribunal, or for spying when it's not an option for civilian mass murderer.

The bill talks about firing squad. Could we have other means like lethal injection or other methods?

And doing it in public space, does it mean the public has access for transparency or is it to make a show at the town square? I don't want execution to be a PR stunt.

Lethal injection is significantly less humane.

less humane really? I didn't know. Firing squad sounds violent. I want the execution to be respectful as much as possible. Perhaps let the criminal have a choice.

Yeah, I’ve been briefed with studies that show that techniques with lethal injection are far from the way to go. It’s not a painless death as it is portrayed in the media. It makes the inmate suffer for a prolonged period of time. If there was a way to develop a way to remove the negatives it would be a better outcome than the gruesome firing squad, but we can’t say that right now.

Unfortunately with lethal injection, it cannot be administered by a medical professional because it violates the hippocratic oath. So it's administered by someone with little to no training who can easily botch it. Recipients are put into a state where they can feel what is happening to them, but unable to express being in pain, which makes it psychologically easier for others in the room, but not the person receiving it. There are numerous sources out there (I'll try to see if I can link them later when I'm not on my phone) that go into how painful the process is and how much the recipient suffers while they are still alive.

I'd be good with introducing another option but no lethal injection.

There should not be a death penalty for anything. Even if we have the death penalty, lethal injection has proven to be too problematic to allow under any circumstance. More....regressive forms of execution might actually be more humane than this new-fangled version

shouldn't it be 6-2-1-0? I'm thinking it's Yes-No-Abstain-No vote? In any case Poirot abstained and Wulfric and RC voted no.
