In Lassez-faire economy, the poor will stay poor and the rich stay rich.  Poor children have little money for education, and thus have no chance of advancedment.

Emsworth, I think you need to get out of your Adam Smith books and go take a walk through heartland america.

What is the basis for this claim?

Private charity will always exist to help the poor. Currently, most private universities offer financial aid to those who cannot afford a good education. There is no reason to believe that private schools will behave any differently.

I won't presume to speak for Prude Kramer, Emsworth, but I beleive reason is the basis for his claim.

What an absurd comment, Emsworth!  Private charity is not only offensive, it is a drop in the bucket - wholely inadequate rectify inequality (almost by definition).

You poor dolt, Philip, the owners only make loans to persons who they believe will be able to pay it back.
