Hurricane Dorian Now a Category 4; Prolonged Threat to Florida, Southeastern U.S. Possible

Given the warm water, it won't take much to get it to a category 5.  It already has sustained winds of 140 mph.

Florida (at least) can breathe a sigh of relief, now that they are no longer in the bullseye.  It looks like Dorian is heading to Georgia and the Carolinas instead.

They shouldn't breathe easy just yet.  Models can shift back and forth several times.

Well sure, but from Florida's perspective at least this is looking less like Hurricane Andrew, and more like Hurricane Matthew.  Better a glancing blow than a full-on collision.

Winds up to 185 MPH. One of the strongest storms ever.

If this thing gets sustained winds of at least 200 mph, that would make Hurricane Dorian the only known hurricane (in the Atlantic, anyways) since the late 18th century to have become that powerful:
