Who do you think will win the 2019 LA Gov race and will it go to a runoff?

Edwards will most likely win outright and avoid a runoff.

Speaking as someone who lived in this state during Bobby Jindal's tenure: you could not be more wrong if you tried.

I was complementing him due to fact, he has kept a fiscal conservative record at the same time he expanded Medicaid and food stamps to needy. Just like Breaux, who was a fiscal hawk.

I am no conseevative, as you know

He really hasn't, though, and he's had several run-ins with the legislature because of it (look at the TOPS/higher ed fiasco that almost defunded college for the whole state last year). A Republican governor would almost certainly have made massive cuts that JBE refused to.

I agree he's been a conservative Democrat -- and I'm not remotely thrilled with him for signing the abortion bill -- but he's still a world away from the Republicans in this state.

I think he'll get 45-50% in the first round and 50-55% in the runoff.

As of now I think there will be a runoff

JBE : 45%
Abraham : 35%
Rispone : 10%
Remaining dudes : 10%

In the end JBE wins the runoff 52/48

I don't think an outright win is assured. Out of caution, I'll say JBE gets in the high 40s in the first round but ends up winning the runoff.

JBE and Beshear should win. Not sure about MS, until more polling is done

It's either going to be a JBE majority blowout in the 1st round (most likely IMO) or a close 51/49ish runoff either way if he can't close the deal in October.

I dunno who wins overall, but JBE probably just misses the majority the first time around.

So there is a general consensus that Governor John Bel Edwards will be re-elected -the great divide seems to be whether he will have to undergo a runoff to get there.

More or less. I think most Republican/Independent voters will oppose the Democrat; JBE's chances are likely overrated here. However, if the majority of undecideds vote for JBE in the first round, it's possible for him to win in the first round. A rather odd scenario.

Only 3 1/2 weeks until the October 12th, Primary and it appears that the race is likely in JBE's favor at this point.

I think Edwards will get pretty close to 50% in either direction, so I'm not sure whether or not it will go to a run-off. If it does, Edwards probably wins by 4-6%.

I suspect Edwards gets ~ 48% in the first round before winning 53-47 or so in the runoff. I don’t see him winning a runoff in a landslide though I would be surprised if he lost re-election.
