Bummer, I was hoping for Jim Douglas throwing his hat in the ring again.

Big loss for Clinton. Coming in last in Iowa is not a good sign for her campaign. I am guessing that Obama is going to be Bredesen's main competitor in the future.

Anything is possible at this point in time.

Bummer, I was hoping for Jim Douglas throwing his hat in the ring again.

I decided to change it up a little. My original premise was a good tad unrealistic and these changes reflect that.

"And the first polls are closing in New Hampshire, the second state to vote in the primaries.8 Years ago, for the Republicans, Senator John McCain defeated then Governor George W. Bush by a whopping 18.17 %. Now however, the veteran Senator faces the rising star, Former Massachusetts Governor, who looks to take McCain down a peg and win tonight outright. With only 1 % reporting, it's close between the two, with 33 % for McCain, 30 % for Romney, and 37 % distributed for all the other candidates. Meanwhile, for the Democrats, it's between Bredesen and Clinton, 29 % to 27 %, with the other candidates holding the remaining numbers. Can the New York Senator win this state or will she lose yet another early state to the Tennessee Governor. Or perhaps, can Newbie Barack Obama defeat both of them and get his first state in the race?" Mitt smacked his lips anxiously while watching the screen.

He had given up his position as Governor, a position he was popular in, to run for President. He already had 4 Delegates thanks to Iowa and now he could stand to gain more thanks to New Hampshire if he did well here. He just needed to beat that fake conservative McCain to get that state and honestly, as of right now, anything was possible. Hell, Thompson, however unlikely, could win the state if the turnout was in his favor. For the Democrats, it was an interesting race, he had to admit. Months ago, it seemed like Senator Clinton was a shoe in for the Democratic Nomination and that anyone challenging her was doomed to fail. Now, however, she was last in Delegate count for the Democratic Party and had ended in Fourth Place in the Iowa Caucuses 5 days ago, behind Edwards, Obama, and Bredesen, respectfully.

His campaign had pretty much began to plan a strategy that would be effective against Obama or Bredesen if they became the Nominees, as a security measure. from he heard, the only other campaign doing this was Huckabee's. It was a thing to do, consider all possible outcomes and make contingency plans for those outcomes, yet no one else was apparently doing so.

Two Hours later, the results had finally been declared. "It's 10:27 PM EST and we have two special Projections to report. With 69 % in for the Republican Primary and 67 % in for the Democratic Primary, CNN can now project..."

MITT ROMNEY WINS NEW HAMPSHIRE PRIMARY FOR REPUBLICANS

"That's correct. Despite more precincts needing to come in, we can project with certainty that Phil Bredesen will win the Democratic New Hampshire Primary while Mitt Romney will win the Republican New Hampshire Primary. A great night for both campaigns while the McCain and Clinton campaigns are now wandering in the dark, looking for a way to change this outcome." The team he cheered and Mitt kissed Ann with gratitude. He'd done it. New Hampshire was his. Next was Nevada and then Florida. He had won two states now, this state and Wyoming, and he placed third, an admittedly distant one, in Iowa.

Now, he would give his victory speech to his supporters and then move forward, looking to win the Primary by the end of April.

HUCKABEE

January 19th, 2008

Boy this primary was getting close, wasn't it? He, Romney, and Gilmore were the current front runners with more delegates than any of the other candidates, with the only close challenger being that Ron Paul. It was a sad time for Senator McCain. He had started out this primary with high hopes, believing that he could win the Nomination, due to being in second place in 2000 to Now President Bush.

That was now a dead dream for the Arizona politician. He was in third place in South Carolina and was a distant third in Delegate count. The former Arkansas Governor smiled as he watch more and more votes come in from South Carolina for the Republican Party. Romney had already taken home Nevada, giving him four states to Huckabee's one (as he won Michigan four days prior) and the Democrats were having a bloody fight for the Nomination between Clinton, Obama, and Bredesen.

With 83 % of the vote in, he had a near 6 point lead over Gilmore, who was quickly catching up, in South Carolina while the Democrats had Obama lead in Nevada the entire night, likely thanks to Bredesen taking votes from Hillary. This night was going to be a crowning moment for the Primaries. Once this night ended, only six candidates would remain in the Republican field (Himself, Romney, Gilmore, McCain, Giuliani, and Paul) and two of them would likely fall apart following Florida's vote if it didn't go their way. The Democrats looked to be a battle to February 2nd, with the Michigan and Florida Primaries holding their votes then.

A half hour later, he heard Wolf Blitzer say aloud : "And with 97 % in for the Republican Primary in South Carolina and 94 % in for the Democratic Caucuses in Nevada, CNN can make two projections : "

MIKE HUCKABEE WINS SOUTH CAROLINA PRIMARY FOR REPUBLICANS

"A historic projection. This is the first win for someone other than Bredesen in the Democratic race and it's from Senator Clinton's other main opponent this race. For the Republicans, tonight ends in a victory for Huckabee, though this could easily be counted as a crushing blow to McCain. The runner-up of 2000 looks to be having difficulty getting any real traction following his loss in New Hampshire." It was an expected win. A very expected one at that. Now, the race was wide open and Florida would be kingmaker.

EDWARDS

January 26th, 2008

Source : https://www.britannica.com/biography/John-Edwards

John Edwards, former North Carolina Senator and 2004 Democratic Vice Presidential Nominee looked at the TV screen tiredly. 98 % in and the result was clear for his birth state of South Carolina. Obama was first, with Bredesen, himself, and Clinton in a close second, third, and fourth respectfully. It was a fun race, to be fair, but now it was time to drop out. It was weird, all things considered. This time last year, he was in the top three of the Primary and now, he was losing his birth state to an African American Senator from the Midwest and the Governor of the State right next to the one he used to represent in the Senate.

He remembered all the debate performances he did in the race and sighed softly. Even the last minute performance that greatly helped him in pre-primary polling couldn't give him second place. He guessed it was time to drop out and endorse someone. Biden and basically everyone else except Gravel endorsed Bredesen or Obama. Obama won his birth state while
Bredesen was more likely to win. Decisions, Decisions.

And now the first results in Florida were coming in for the Republicans. Right now, it was anyone's game, but McCain knew that this would be his, and Rudy's, last chance. A victory here or strong second showing would boost either of them for a few wins in Super Tuesday. Already, Romney had won 4 states and Huckabee had won 2, with Gilmore, that former Virginia Governor who had been out of office for six years at this point, likely winning the Louisiana Caucuses and Primaries.

He wanted to win this race. He was the runner-up eight years ago for christ's sake! Still, Crist's endorsement of Mitt a few days ago might've hurt the Arizona Senator in the state. He could only hope he run. Of course, hours later, that hope was gone, dust in the wind with Rudy likely ending up in third and himself ending up in fifth, with 92 % in. "And now, CNN can make a projection!" He already knew Romney won Florida.

That was it. His campaign was finished. He supposed now was the time to give a withdraw and endorsement speech like Rudy was currently doing. He was going to endorse Romney. Despite their differences, he liked the former Massachusetts Governor.

As he began to walk towards the stage, he considered a possibility : Could he run in 2012?

CLINTON

February 2nd, 2008

Source : https://www.washingtonpost.com/video/politics/hillary-clintons-2008-presidential-announcement/2015/04/10/b972ae92-df9a-11e4-b6d7-b9bc8acf16f7_video.html

The Senator sneered angrily as she looked at the full results from the computer screen. Phil had won Florida by 27.9 % against Obama easily and Obama had won by 22.3 % over Bredesen in Michigan. SHe had placed a distant third in both states and that infuriated her. The former first lady had spent the last 8 years building up a campaign to run for President and now that was all coming apart because all these idiotic voters were choosing people far worse to be the Nominee than herself! They'll likely lose the election to whoever the hell the Republicans nominate and then...she could run in 2012 and take her rightful place...yes, that could work.

She looked at the shattered glass that she had thrown against the wall a few minutes ago. Maybe not her best moment, but hey, it was time to plan for 2012. There was always the future and it was best to look forward to that instead of staying with the present. She requested her speech and began to walk towards the stage to give her withdrawal and endorsement speech. Endorsing Bredesen would be a good choice. She'll still end up being the 2012 Nominee, so why not just go where the wind is blowing for now?

Nothing is set in stone, As Obama currently leads Bredesen by 26 Delegates. Any number of things could happen.

And now we're at a crossroads for this TL. Should I post ST and every Primary up to the final ones as Summaries or should I continue posting them as POVs?

Ok, So I've been doing the Infoboxes for Super Tuesday for Both Parties. I'll just post those and the Maps for Both parties following Super Tuesday because I don't think I'll have the energy to do much else.

The viewers will decide who the running mate for both candidates will be once the Nominees have been decided or chosen in order to help at a contested convention.

Question, as I want to get to the General ASAP, should I just write a long summaries of both primaries in the lead-up to the conventions or just post all the infoboxes and the maps instead?

Sorry for not updating this in a while, I got busy and I realized it was a tad too ambitious of me to make infoboxes for every Primary (It gets boring and repetitive really fast), so I just made these instead.

I'll post a poll as to who Bredesen's Running Mate should be with this as well.

Anywyas, hope you enjoy this quick end of Primary update :

Spurce : https://mapchart.net/usa.html

https://forms.gle/N1M2K8GCnk4sW3sU9

I'll collect the top three from the poll in a week or two and post a Bredesen PoV of him looking the three over.
