Matt Brown, former Rhode Island Secretary of State and candidate for the Democratic nomination for governor of Rhode in 2018, lost to the incumbent governor, Gina Raimondo, 58-35, and she went on to win the general election fairly easy with a margin 53-37 despite some expecting a closer race due to her unpopularity. Suppose she had a scandal just before the election and Brown wins the primary narrowly. How does he do in the general? I think he actually may have done better than her, just based on the fact that that he won his Secretary of State race so convincingly (68-32). Maybe something like 55-36.

He would win by around 18 points.

Republican actually invested some money into Rhode Island hoping for a suprise but I doubt with a stronger candidate like Brown that they would put money into the race or bring attention to the race so I say maybe 58 to 35
