I've always thought that if you pay more in, you should get more back.

If 3 people are looking at going to a baseball game: one buys a ticket for $75, the second buys a ticket for $35, and the third person doesn't buy any at all because he doesn't want to go (his pitcher has the night off). Very bad weather forces the game to be cancelled and it's decided that everyone will get their money back. Under the Republican plan, the guy who paid $75 get his $75 back. The guy who paid $35 gets his $35 back. The guy who didn't buy any ticket and didn't plan to go doesn't get anything back for obvious reasons. Now, under the Democratic plan, all 3 get back $40.

I don't know if that's one of Reagan's old stories or analogies or not. Sure sounds like it - but I always remembered that one.

The difference is that with the Republican plan the park makes no money, but with the Democratic plan the park has $10 to better the experience for future games.

Help drop the price of all the food too, right? Smiley

Actually, the $10 goes in a fund to build another stadium! Once they can put up about 1% of the cost of a new stadium, the tax payers get stuck with the other 99%.

Actually I did the math wrong. The Democrats create a $10 deficit, with the prices you gave. We will have to raise hot dog prices!

I don't think it's necessarily a matter of raising and lowering taxes, it's getting rid of the loopholes in tax law.

Entirely eliminating corporate taxes carries a number of benefits.

First, it would result in a drop across the board in prices for consumers (since consumers carry the eventual bruden of all corporate taxes).  This would increase purchasing power for the average person, passing on these tax savings to you and me.

Second, it would free up capital with which corporations could deal more effectively with rising health care costs.

Third, it would free up capital that companies could use to reinvest in their businesses.

Fourth, it might result in fewer jobs being moved overseas, since less of the moeny made here would be taxed.

Fifth, all the economic benefits of this change would come with very little budgetary inconvenience, seeing as only 5% of federal revenue comes from corporate taxes.

Why on earth should tax be cut when you have a -4.7% deficit?!?

I have never understood the selfish american obsession wit tax cuts, and am deeply concerened that it is beginning to be echoed here-espeially by the liberals, but by both parties.

The Federal Income tax is unconstitutional as well as the IRS. This is a better tax idea. www.fairtax.org

I'd just like to congratulate Europe on having slower economic growth than America.  In fact, there is no western idustrial nation that has a higher rate of growth, so we must be doing something right.

Don't understand the American fixation with low taxes?  Maybe thats your problem.

Why hasn't the Bush administration proposed a constitutional amendment to repeal the 16th amendment?
