Keystone Phil walks over to the podium set up in the living room of his Northeast Philadelphia residence. After a few photos are taken, Phil begins his address to the people of Atlasia...

Good evening. I am here tonight to proudly accept the nomination, by President Joe Republic, to the position of Secretary of the Treasury. A great honor handed to me and I am thrilled to by it.

If I am confirmed by the Senate, I will have some huge shoes to fill. Supersoulty is a great Atlasian and a hero of mine. I have always looked up to him. Taking his place will be a tough job but I am up for the challenge. As everyone knows, I am ready to face problems. I am not afraid. It won't be a cakewalk but I am ready.

I want to finish by thanking the President for his confidence in my ability to serve and I hope that the Atlasian people give me a chance to make them proud. Thank you.

Keystone Phil walks out of the room, giving a wave to one of the cameras.

Joe Republic may have his warts like all the rest of us, but the one thing you can never accuse him of having is poor judgment.  He has impressed me with the high calibre nominations that he has made, and this simply cements my already high opinion of him as Atlasia's President.

I have no doubt that Keystone Phil will serve Atlasia well in his capacity as Treasury Secretary, and I congratulate him on his good fortune.    Smiley

Phil was my very first choice.  Although there are several people that I consider to be worthy of this duty, I consider Phil to be the best among them.

Also, its not very befitting to let your personal dislike for him interfere with your judgement on whether he will be a good Treasury Secretary or not.

So, are you in favor of inflation targeting?

Thank you for the kind words, my friends.

To answer Bono's question, yes, I do favor inflation targeting but I would like to get together some other economic advisors on this issue. I'll issue you an invitation soon.  Smiley

My personal views on Phil have very little to do with my feeling that this is a bad pick, although they do originate from the same characteristics of Phil in a general sense. I wouldn't trust him to do much at all, let alone run an important department at a critical time.
