FYI narrow  Pinochet. I guess in a congressional race I would vote Allende as he would never be in a position to do the damage communism could.

I can never understand why people stress "The DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED Allende" as a point in Allende's favor when discussing these two, as if state-sponsored theft is suddenly A-OK if a 50.1% majority says it is.

Whatever you think of Allende’s economic policies, Pinochet murderd thousands.

Yeah I don't trust socialists enough for them to not murder hundreds of thousands. Atleast with Pinochet Ik for a fact what happened. Chile went through a stabilization period with minor- moderate growth with very light economic liberalization in some areas although not others and then it finally ended up becoming the most successful country in South America.
