Not to complain, but I think there are rules in Arizona requiring the governor to appoint senators based on the party of the previous senators, so Gov. Ducey would have to appoint a Democrat to Sinema's old seat. This may also be true in other states. Am I incorrect?

Azar announces his pick for Vice President: Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards

I looked up file page and it seems you need to attribute the author:

Please fix.

You might be. I'll look into it and make changes accordingly.

OK, so it seems Arizona, North Carolina, Maryland, Hawaii, Utah and Wyoming have laws saying the Senator has to be of the same party. That means I need to revise Arizona and Maryland.

And a lot of states only do it by special election but for this TL we'll just say thar every state has some form of appointment.

Same for NC--Cooper would be obligated to appoint Republicans to Tillis and Burr's seats.

This is probably the first parent and child to serve a state in the Senate at the same time, right?

Would not be shocked is Azar would win just because of the fact that the country went through a insane crisis and needs to have some form of 'stablity'
