Treaty of Constantinople

I. Whereas a state of war exists between the Bulgarian Empire and the Latin Empire
II. Whereas both parties seek an immediate end to hostilities
III. The Bulgarian Empire and the Latin Empire agree to the following:
     a. Hostilities between the two Empires and their bannermen shall henceforth cease
     b. The Latin Empire shall retain its territory that it held before the start of hostilities, including
         Constantinople, Edirne, and Thessaloniki
     c. The Bulgarian Empire shall retain its territory that it held before the start of hostilities, including
         Plovdiv (Phillipopolis), Sozopol, and its territories on the Aegean Sea.
IV. So swear both Sovereigns in felicity and harmony

I. Whereas the Tsar of Bulgaria and the Emperor of the Latin Empire wish to establish free and open trade
II. Therefore, neither Sovereign nor their bannermen shall levy tax, tariff nor restrict trade between the two peoples in any way
III. So say both Sovereigns in felicity and harmony

Statement of Support and Felicity
Tsar Boril I Asen, first of his name, wishes to extend his support and felicity to Emperor Frederick II Hohenstaufen, who is considered to be an upstanding ruler and a credit to his people. We extend our heartfelt gratitude for his hospitality and candor. As emissaries of the Bulgarian Empire, we hope that our relationship may grow stronger in the years to come. May Frederick's years be prosperous and plentiful.

The Bulgarian and the Nicaean Empire, the latter the true heirs to the Roman Empire, hereby agree to a formal, binding alliance in matters of state and armed combat. Should one party face aggression from an external threat, either party shall resolve to defend the other. In this we agree to defend our Orthodox brothers wherever they may be and attack the influence of those who have usurped the rightful rulers of the late Roman Empire. In all affairs, we agree to meet an equitable settlement. This treaty shall be enshrined in perpetuity or until its two signatories no longer exist.
