Green Party: For the Common Good

General focus:

The Green Party launched its manifesto for rapid action on climate change and extensive political reform, as well as addressing Brexit. The focus of the campaign is to be environmental issues, and as such, a focus on younger voters will be a top priority in the campaign. The line on Brexit remains that with 30% of eligible voters and no one under 18 represented in the referendum, a second referendum is the only clear option.

Strategy: The Green Party focus is on pulling other parties leftward on climate change, and in particular with the New Energy Plan. To build on the Green Party's strength with younger voters, extensive efforts are to be put into online campaigning, including the establishment of a question-and-answer website which will allow everyone to ask question on party policy and receive a response. All this is is deisgned, as stated, to appeal to younger voters.

August 1

The Green Party launched its 2019 campaign and its manifesto in the Brighton Pavillion seat, currently by Caroline Lucas. Lucas, taking charge of campaign efforts for the Greens, declared that the Green party will be looking to expand its vote, rather than play defence as it always has. The cmaping launch was attended by the renowned Sir David Attenborough, who endorsed the New Energy Plan for the preservation of the environment. It was also announced that volunteers would be permitted to unionise.

2nd-4th of August

Lucas travelled to the southeast of England, where half of all Green party seats were located. The aim was to build campaign infrastructure and rally support for the NEP. The focus, naturally, was on climate change, but also on reofrming the political system, thought to be a winning issue for the Greens. The Conservatives were presented as ignoring climate change, while Labour as too weak-willed on the issue.

5th-7th of August

These days were spent in the northeast, with Lucas spruiking plans to for a hydrogen power plant and innovation center in the region, as well as extensive retraining programs to counter the closure of coal plants. It is hoped that these promises will endear the Green Party to the working class of the north. Eyes were also drawn to plans for a National broadband Service to ensure high internet speeds across the country.

Green Party: For the Future

15-17 August: Caroline Lucas travels to Scotland to meet with members of the Green Party there and campaign in their seats. Of particular notice was the plan to expand the wind power capacity of Scotland, both onshore and offshore. Lucas also continued to hit on plans for a second Brexit referendum and the NHS, but the focus remains on implementing the NEP and fighting climate change.

18 August: Lucas travelled to London to attend a fundraiser hosted by David Attenborough for the Green Party. The fundraiser was attended by all candidates in the London area, and is hoped to bring in significant financial support for candidates across the country.

August 19-21: Lucas travelled to Wales to campaign for Womack and Rapado, the party's two candidates standing there. The emphasis was son climate change, as always, and defending Wales' natural beauty. Fire was also turned on the major parties and Change UK for almost totally ignoring the environment during the campaign, calling it an utter failure of conscience. Attenborough, while campaigning in Wales as well, went a step further and slammed it as them totally and completely failing young voters, who will have to live through the effects of climate change.

Green Party

August 22-23: Caroline Lucas campaigned heavily in the southeast to bump up support for the Green Party in the area. Of note was the fact that the campaign began to hit the notes on NHS expansion, calling for nearly 50 million in extra funding, as well as building additional hospitals and focus on establishing specialist centers around the whole country to ensure everyone had access to the healthcare they needed. There was also a call for expanding rural access to healthcare by establishing incentives for doctors to establish practices in rural areas.

August 24-25: The focus these days was on Wales, as Lucas toured through the region meeting with Green candidates and supporters all across it. Lucas also introduced plans to beef up the minimum wage to 11 pounds an our and the apprentice wage to 7.50 an hour. She also stated that these would be tied to inflation, so as inflation rises, so does the minimum wage. Another big policy introduced was the re-nationalisation of the railways, arguing that privatisation has failed and that the railways should be brought back under public ownership

"Privatisation has failed our national railways. How many shakeups have we gone through in the last ten years? It is a travesty that our essential services are being savagely cut in pursuit of corporate profits. We need to bring our railways back into public ownership, now!

One thing that I have found beyond disturbing is that in 2004, the Labour Party Conference voted by a nearly 2 to 1 margin to bring the railways back into public ownership! The Labour Party membership voted for it! And then it was vetoed by none other than the then Transport Secretary, and now the Right Honourable Leader of the Oppostion Alistair Darling! He vetoed his party's rank-and-file who wanted the railways renationalised!

The Green Party is committed to renationalising the railways as franchises expire. We need to reinvest in our rail infrastructure with an eye to modernising and upgrading our network. Not only will this mean increased convenince, but it will be far better for the environment."

August 26-28: Lucas headed to Scotland to campaign with Green Party candidates there. Throughout the tour, she continually led the charge for plans to create new wind farms across Scotland, declaring that under the New Energy Plan, Scotland had the potential for massive growth in jobs. As expected, the focus was again on arresting climate change as in addition to the creation of new wind farms, she also announced plans to create 3 large energy storage batteries across Scotland to store excess power generated by wind farms to be provided free of charge to those who needed it.

Green Party 2019

August 29-31: Caroline Lucas and ticket leaders in London were accompanied by David Attenborough as they campaigned through the city to shore up the Green Party vote there. It's expected that London will continue to remain fertile ground for the party's message of environmentalism and equality. Lucas also announced the party's full endorsement of the climate change protests planned for late September. In addition, they held a major forum meeting in the centre of London to discuss the policies that the Green Party would push for in Parliament, including the New Energy Plan and the Green New Deal and instituting it in the UK.

September 1-2: Campaigning thses days was focused in the south-east, as Lucas not only attempted to shore up her vote in Brighton, but also to expand their vote in other seats to get more Green MPs elected. Another vow was made that the Green party would not support any coalition that did not promise immediate action on climate change through the expansion of renewable energy.

September 3-4: These days were spent in Wales, where Lucas (who by now is virtually surviving on coffee) met with constituent branches of the Green Party, and endeavoured to aid the efforts of as many consitutency parties as she possibly could. She also met with leading list candidates in the area to formulate a strategy for the party's policies in Parliament.

Green Party 2019

Heading into the final week, the Green Party is confident in being able to establish a solid footing in Parliament in order to push for a strong environmental agenda.

Sepetmeber 5-7: Campaign across London. Confident the city will continue to be receptive to the message of environmentalism and modernism, Lucas campaigned across the city with the aid of David Attenborough. The particular talking point was Crossrail, and the promise to power it with renewable energy, as well as opposing the Heathrow expansion on environmental grounds, and Darling's flip-flopping on the issue of renationalising the railways.

September 8-9: Boarding a train into the Yorkshire and Humber area, Lucas campaigned on the Green Party plan to kick start the British hydrogen industry by providing jobs there for coal miners whose mines were closing. She particularly emphasised this part, and that it was the role of the government to retrain them to work in a new economy. In addition, she also continued to talk about rail nationalisation, and plans to upgrade the rails for more movers, energy efficient trains, powered with renewable energy.

September 10: Lucas returned to her constituency of Brighton Pavilion, and gave a formal thanks to all volunteers via a Skype message, before issuing a call to arms to defend the environment, to renationalise the railways, and end crippling austerity measures.

Caroline Lucas addresses supporters

"While I have not been re-elected to Parliament, we have strengthened our hand in the coming government negotiations and our standing in Parliament. We will use this to extract real action on climate change from whoever the governing party may be.

With the loss of my seat, I am hereby resigning as Leader of the Green Party, and endorse one of our newest MPs from London, Jean Lambert, as the next leader for the Green Party in the United Kingdom!"
