This pollster also has Bevin +6, for what it's worth. Really hard to believe Bevin only does two points worse than McConnell.

To what extent are they sure of who the Democratic nominee for this race will be?

2008 was the only opportunity the Democrats had to beat McConnell and they missed it. And Kentucky is a coal country state so McConnell will easily win this race.

Safe R. McConnell will win by 20+ points. Dems shouldn't invest a dime here.

*Yawn* Safe R-Safe R

But knowing the Democrats, due to KY-06 last year and the fact that Beshear might win this year, they will likely think they have a shot and waste money here, like they did with ALG in 2014.

Why are you so optimistic about Democratic chances in your state?

If McConnell couldn't lose in 2008, he's never losing. he's going to remain Senator until he drops dead or resigns.

Because we kind of like have a right to better representation, ya know?

If you don't count the dominionist vote, Republicans wouldn't be winning.

Calling it now: Mitch McConnell will have his worst ever performance in Fayette County in the 2020 Election regardless of who the Democrats nominate.

And probably in Jefferson County too.

Of this I am absolutely certain.

As for actually beating the Turtle, I abandoned all hope long ago. But, that said, I have no idea why they polled him against Jim Gray, who is unlikely to be the nominee. Adds more puzzlement to the poll’s already outlier and unbelievable result showing Bevin comfortably ahead, and only two points off McConnell??? Not sure I can trust this firm at all to poll Kentucky correctly.

If only we could twist the course of history to force the Jefferson County Result in KY-SEN 2020 to be the same as its going to end up being in the end while making the rest of the state simply swing the same amount uniformly in terms of a shift from 2008 to 2020.

McConnell is a ruthless shrewd son of a gun.

He'll probably still win reelection.

Democrats should still pour resources there, and aggressively in KY-06, try to get Barr.

I do hope Gray does give it a shot, at least force Mitch to be a little on the defense.

What the Dems really need to be doing is funding McConnell’s primary challenger. I don’t care what it takes, Mitch McConnell’s reign over the Senate needs to end. Period.

The DSCC won't spent a penny in KY-Sen but whoever runs against McConnell will have a ridiculous warchest, which is fine, as small donors will be focusing on the Presidential election. In that sense, not a single dime will be "wasted" here as the money would not be diverted to Jed Possumturd's campaign to unseat Thom Tillis or whatever.

Multiply this by at least two, and that seems about right.
