I wouldn't be too worried if I were him. Beto and Castro both aren't running.

I mean I wouldn't be too worried because Texas still leans red but people forget Rourke was a random congressman from an isolated part of texas.

It doesn't always take well known entity to defeat an incumbent. Most of the Democrats who got close in statewide races in Texas last weren't exactly big names.

He should be. 2018 wasn’t just a one-off, even if that’s what many people like to/want to believe.

I suspect Beto spent his political capital in Texas by embarking onto an adrenaline run for the Presidency almost immediatelly after losing.

MJ Hegar is a perfectly good candidate.

He’s right to be worried about his race.

The fact that Cornyn is taking his race seriously bodes well for him. I feel Ted Cruz was overconfident during much of last year until O'Rourke really started catching up in the final stretch. A lot like Mark Warner in 2014 imo

As stated above, Beto O’Rourke was not an A-List recruit when he announced for Senate in 2017, and wasn’t really taken seriously till spring 2018. We’ll see how MJ Hegar’s campaign takes off down the stretch.

Teresa Greenfield and MJ Hegar are 2nd tier candidates. Dems have a better chance with Gideon, Cunningham,  and Mark Kelly

He's going to end up getting Abbott-like numbers, stop being hacks.

He has nothing to lose by being cautious. He's definitely favored, but not safe, so getting cocky would be a bad idea.

Good. If you aren't sweating, then your body isn't able to cool itself, which is a sign of a condition called anhidrosis, or hypohidrosis, in which case Cornyn should see a doctor.

Clearly strong incumbent Cornyn will win Fort Bend County suburbanites while Trump likely is losing it by double digits while also facing a semi competent challenger

Who was propped up to all hell by a massive fundraising haul because he was pushed incessantly by the media and Hollywood who hated Cruz.

Texas Hispanics are more conservative by a mile than Hispanics in other states, but obviously Texas is shifting left - just not as fast as a lot on this website like to believe.

Idk man, it shifted 6 points to the left from just 2016 to 2018 alone lol. It wasn't just Beto - downballot dems only did about 1-2 points (and some, like MJ Hegar, outperformed Beto).

This was with relatively low hispanic turnout too. 2020 will likely have higher hispanic and youth turnout too which will help dems.

I imagine Cornyn should have a healthy lead on MJ Hegar for a while because she has really low name recognition, but I think in the last month or so she might start leading Cornyn in the polling averages.
